I had a complete unfill a week ago Tuesday...still getting stuck on stuff that should be getting through!  I'm still following my protocol, chewing, eating slowly, etc.  I had breakfast 90 min ago and it's still sitting there.  Getting scared that my band will have to come out.

Uh oh.  Have you let your doc know?  Could it be swelling/irritation from the unfill???  Maybe you should do liquids for 24 hours just to let things rest...but one way or the other I would call the doc.  Stuff shouldn't be getting stuck.  Keep us posted and take care of yourself...hope things resolve quickly.

Yes, she knows...I can ge****er in and eventually the food passes through, no foaming.  She's on vacation and told me if I start to lose meals or cannot get hydrated to go to the ER.

Just do protein shakes for an entire 48 hours (and broth...liquids only).  Then after 48 hours do cottage cheese, refried beans, pudding for 24 hours.  Then after that try ground meat.  I'm sure your tummy is just really irritated from all the stuck episodes.  If you follow this protocol and by the 4th day ground meat in a sauce (pasta sauce sans pasta for example) won't go down then I'd start to worry a tiny bit.

ANY time we get a stuck episode we should really do protein shakes for a day.  Once stuck things get inflammed and need to rest.

Hi Gran
What type of ground meat are you referring to?  Beef or turkey?

I use either :)  mostly ground turkey though.  I make a spaghetti sauce and put some parmesean cheese and no pasta.  I make it thick with lots of fresh tomatoes.  or I made a chili or liquidy taco mix with lots of tomatoes again :)  I don't use tortilla shells;  I either eat it in a bowl or wrap them in lettuce.  If I'm recovering from a stuck episode then NO lettuce either and tomatoes are crushed...not hard

This sounds soooo good. I am only 24 days post op and can't wait to eat that.

omg, I so remember craving REAL food!!!!  How much longer?  Can you eat refried beans?  That is good with some taco seasoning.  Oh that was such a hard time, but it's worth it!

If you are talking to me, yes.  I can eat refried beans, oatmeal, scrambled eggs or a diced boiled egg. (never thought anything could taste so good. One more week on mushy/real soft and if my 1st month post op goes well, I may be able to go to the next batch of yummies.

I had a complete unfill 2 months before my revision to gastric bypass, and I still had stuck moments, vomiting and random tightening.

You may need to seriously consider revision.   It's the best thing that I ever did!

246 in Dec 2008 before banded 1/28/09 at 215 lbs, band crapped 9/09 at 170 lbs and struggled with it and regained to 203 revised to bypass on 8/1/11 and am very happy.
