I am so HUNGRY!!!!!

Four weeks post-op and I feel like I never had surgery.  I'm trying to be "good" and eat tiny portions like I've been told, but two hours later I'm ravenous.   I'm eating good and healthy foods, nothing on the "no-no" list, but I'm snacking too much. I think I've pretty much fully healed from the surgery and I'm ready for a fill.  Is this typical ya think?

Totally typical! We call it bandster hell. I felt like I had to diet until I started to get my fills in, and it takes, on average, 5-7 fills. It seemed to get a little easier with each one. It's really hard, but try as hard as you can not to snack and stick to your Dr's recommendations. If you have to snack, stick to high protein, like small amount of nuts, string cheese, etc. You will have to do other things when this happens, take a walk, read a book, call a friend, etc. Or at least that is what helped me. Good luck and keep your head up.

I am nearly 3 weeks post op and am hungry also. Thank heavens for SF popsickles. I do my protein shakes per my surgeon request. Am doing well. I go next Friday for my 1 month post op. Not sure if I wll get a fill or not. I am on mushy/very soft foods for at least another week.

Yep -- very normal.

I got my first fill at 4 weeks post op (4cc in an 11cc Realize band -- typically the Realize Bands are filled a bit more aggressively than the LapBand).

For me, it was better to eat small amounts every 2 - 3 hours than to eat too much at one time.
I was terrified to stretch my pouch.

Low-fat cheese sticks (50 calories) with a few whole-grain Low-fat Wheat Thins came out to less than 100 calories for a good and filling snack that would hold me off for another 2-3 hours.

Wait an hour after eating, and drink 16 - 24 ounces of non-calorie fluids before you eat again.

You are dieting right now, without much help --- but I promise that it gets better!!!

Thanks for the feedback!

Here's what I just had for dinner (sounds weird, but it was actually pretty good):

1/2 cup crab meat
1/2 cup steamed edamame
1 hard boiled egg, chopped
1 Tbsp balsamic vinaigrette (homemade)

Peach (peeled) for dessert

Came to a total of 378 calories, 34 g of protein.  Way more than the 2 oz of protein that my nutritionist recommended at this point, but I'm satisfied and my stomach feels fine.  I'm going to call my surgeon's office tomorrow and see if I can get an earlier appt than my current one 4 weeks from now.

I did not get my fill until six weeks out. I remember for the first three months I ate three small meals and two snacks for about a total of 600 calories.

Like Mari said, I ate more often.

Now I eat three small meals without a snack unless my dinner is before 6pm.

Still only one initial fill. You will get through it. Find things to do to keep you occupied.

My NUT also made me add the whole grain bread. She said it would make you stay fuller longer. I eat the small flat round bread half a piece for 50 calories.

Keep trying different foods. I find the crab meat doesn't stay with me as long as chicken or turkey-beef meatloaf.
