Hiccups?
Hi Everyone,
I'm not sure what's going on. It seems like just about every time I eat, I get the hiccups. I'm not eating too much. I'm chewing carefully and taking time in between bites. I'm not drinking with my meals and I wait at least 30 minutes afterwards.
Any ideas? It's getting really annoying and embarassing.

Your diaphragm is irritated.
My diaphragm was damaged during surgery. Hiccups, nonstop sneezing, runny nose... all of them... irritated diaphragm. Actually, it's the Vagus nerves that run through the diaphragm and into the stomach.
You might want to get some saline removed to see if that helps at all.

I agree with Nic. Hiccups are the diaphragm going into spasm and it happens sometimes to most people, band or no band. But if it is happening every time you eat, you might be sensible to ask your doc's advice.
