I get quite a lot of personal messages asking if I have a magic secret for my success. Here's a copy of a post I made some time ago........

At six years banded and having been a very regular reader and contributor on OH for even longer, I really have picked up a lot of tips. So I thought I would share a few. You may notice a pattern! Every single one of these tips works for someone!

Count and record every morsel that passes your lips.
Do a rough count in your head every day.
Don't count anything, just make healthy choices and eat small amounts.

Always eat breakfast.
Sometimes eat breakfast.
Never eat breakfast.

Don't drin****il one hour after a meal
Drink 30 mins after a meal.
Drink 10 mins after a meal

Never eat carbs.
Eat a few carbs.
Eat carbs at every meal.

Eat three meals a day and no more.
Eat three meals and snacks
Eat when you are hungry, even if that means 6 meals a day

Weigh at doctor's appointments
Weigh every week
Weigh every time you see a set of scales.

Expect to lose 10lbs a month and sulk when you don't
Expect to lose 5lbs a month
Be happy to lose something every month.

I could go on!

My point. Find out what works for you. Then do that.

Incidentally, I have been very successful at losing and maintaining and I wrote these so that in every three, I went with the third option! A very relaxed approach!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Kate is one of the most successful, least political, and most sane success stories on the board.  I hope those of you who looked at this post took heed of these words from the wise.

And she is a nice person to boot!

Great post, Kate (as always).

My path is mine.......I share want worked for me, in hopes that it helps others, but I don't expect anyone to walk on my shoes.

You have inspired and encouraged me for 3 years....I am happy to see you back here encouraging newbies and vets alike.

Are you gearing up for the Olympics? Will there be any venues near you???

We missed out on the lottery for tickets for the main olympics but have some for the paralympics. Snd we will be going to watch the marathon.

So great to see you posting again Kate. I think we all have to find our own path, but when you are new and unsure it is really nice to hear from some of the vets. That way I could take every third comment and make it my own. LOL!
