Frustrated, but I know it will get better...
Hey everyone!
About 5 weeks ago I wrote about having gastritis, weird pains in my back, pressure in my throat, food coming back up 12 hours later, etc. and I went to see the doctor. He unfilled me about 1cc and he basically thought I was too tight (even though I could eat an entire chicken breast and sides)--I told him I did not think I was too tight, but that I thought that maybe my esophagus was dilated and I was worried. He basically pooh-poohed my concerns, but I insisted upon having an upper GI done. I will be having the test done next Friday, 5 weeks after my unfill. I'll be glad to have the tests done because I'm still having the ocassional issue and I want to start ruling things out. I've been gaining weight since the unfill, but I know once I get filled again, it should come back off.
I had a horrible gastritis attack Tuesday, but it got better in the PM. Then yesterday, it started all over again and I was in a lot of pain and discomfort all the way through the evening. Today my stomach and back are sore to the touch (I assume from all of the pressure/bloating), but the gas is gone. Yay for the little things! Anyways, I was totally dismayed when I got on the scale this morning and it said that I am now up almost 17 pounds since the unfill---and I haven't been overeating or eating tons of crap! Overnight I ended up gaining 7 pounds---how can that be??? I know that I do retain water, but this is crazy even for me!
If I do have dilation, I assume he'll take all fluid out of the band to see if it will reset, but if I have gained 17 pounds in just 5 weeks, I hate to see what's going to happen with a complete unfill. I know it's just a tool and that I have to be responsible for my own actions, but I have been exercising and eating lots of protein/veggies and not a lot of carbs, so I am very frustrated.
Oh well, things will get better eventually..........POSITIVE ATTITUDE!!!
Thanks for letting me vent---

I agree with Buckeye if we don't advocate for ourselves no one else will. Right now just concentrate on finding the problem causing your gastritis. If you are continuing to have problems, your band may be the cause and you may have to rethink the whole band situation. I find the ONLY way I can keep from gaining is to journal every bite as soon as I take it because if I wait, I too conveniently forget to write down the "evil" things. I sure hope all comes out well for you, keep us posted!
