It does seem a bit absurd.
I have been wondering if the "founders" Are actually one person with 2 screen names. They seem to just be each others cheering section.
I wish I had the free time to play such games on a support site but alas my life is too full with exercising, loving my husband and dog, working, eating well, enjoying my hobbies, spending time with friends and sleeping!

Here's the thing: it's a private group on OH and the owner of the group has the right to make any rules they darn well please as long as they don't violate TOS. They also have the right to appoint any administrators they please.
While OH administrators may (randomly or not) choose to monitor a private group (primarily for adherence to OH TOS), any time you hit REPORT within a private group, the report goes to the group owner and the administrators of the group.
Groups have the right to limit membership as they please.
I am personally banned from one group. I have been by MULTIPLE people they want me in the group and have proposed me for membership in the group but there is ONE PERSON in the group who doesn't want me there. I could go on about it, but, to the point, I don't have a right to insist on inclusion into a private group nor is there an OH mommy to make them play nice and include me.
So, if the Happy Bandsters want to limit their membership, they do have the right to. Will they lose someone or something meaningful in the process? Yes, but THEY DON'T CARE.
I'm certain, if I asked to join their group, I would be denied as well. I'm blocked by the person I suspect is the administrator.
Bette, I luvs ya. If I had a group, I would insist you had to be a member. If you set up a group, I would be a member.

Out of curiousity, WHY did you try to join this group?
