feeling deprived
I am 1 year and 8 months into my lapband surgery. I have reached my goal, which I still have a hard time believing. I have lost 105 pounds. That is my daughter in law! Yea she is tee tiny...well here lately I am feeling really depressed cause I really miss eating the things I have enjoyed. I live in south Louisiana, cajun country, and everything is centered around food. I got a fill last Thursday because 3 pounds crept up on me and I didn't want to get out of hand. Well now, 5 days later, i am having a really hard time getting food down. This happend once before and they let some fluid out, but then I didn't lose anything for 6 months. So, I really am fighting it trying to work through it. I am also having acid reflux at night. I am able to eat a little, way more than 2 days ago. But, I still have the feeling of deprivation....do you think I should go back to counseling? I feel so good when I get compliments, but my old self wants to eat! HELP!
First of all you need to get a tiny amount of fill taken out, as little as .1 cc can make all the difference, but if you can't eat and are having reflux then you are too tight. Being tight can cause long term, damage with your band and stomach, it's always best to be as loose as you can. If you are feeling deprived then that is a head issue and couceling would probably help. Our surgery only helps our tummys not our brains and they need adjustment too. Good luck to you!
You are too tight! That is DANGEROUS! You need at least a partial unfil. Will that cause you to not lose for another 6 months? Possibly. That's just band life. For some they can only lose if it is too tight, but you risk your health when you have your band too tight.
As far as feeling deprived........if you want it, have it. Just either not as much, or not as often. There is no reason anything should be off limits. Moderation is key.
Smart move because even you stay filled that tight and try to wait it out on liquids you will find that the exact opposite of what you wanted to happen will happen. Instead of losing weight you will gain or not loose at all.
I have been there and done that.
Now you need to really look at your feelings of deprivation? Is it because you can't eat the same quanity of the tasty treats you love? Or that you removed them entirely out of your diet?
Take care,
