A Bittersweet/Happy day all in one

Dear banded friends,

I've known for quite some time I would need to write this post and I've been putting it off.

I am going to have my band taken out and revise to the DS this fall/winter.

The band has gotten increasingly tighter and tighter and tighter causing lots of problems. Unfills only help so long. Tomorrow I'm having the last little bit of fill taken out to buy some more time so I can hopefully make it until the fall when a surgery is more convenient. If it becomes an emergency it can be done sooner w/o too much of an issue though.

When I went into band surgery and for the first 18 months after wards I was so hopeful, happy and optimistic. Problems were not goint to happen to me and my band. Well, when they started happening I felt so discouraged that I stopped spending much time on OH. Over the last several months I've done all the hard mental work of accepting the band is not working for me and not only that, it is hurting my body. Now I am ready emotionally to move forward with a revision.

I want to thank all of you for your support over the years. I did not post a whole lot, mostly enjoyed reading and celebrating your triumphs and hurting when you hurt. I wish you all the best.

Take Care,

Trixie

Trixie,
I've been experiencing some problems too...tightening, unfill...hoping that my band will cooperate and allow me to eat the proper foods.  You'll do great with your DS....good luck to you!

Hi Trixie -

I am sorry that you have to have your band removed -- but am so glad to hear that you have a plan in place for your DS.

Congratulations for coming to peace with this and making a good decision for your health.  I wish you a speedy recovery from the band removal and all the best with your DS.

If you only knew how many other of us have that same problem and folks are afraid anymore to post about problems because they are attacked and belittled when they do. I'm so sorry you are having problems but at least you are able to revise where many of us aren't that fortunate. I wish you the very best and hope the DS is everything you need it to be. Celebrate your new life!

love you and want nothing but the best for you.  Please remember us over here. Your experience is vital in helping those that will need it.  If everyone that truly understands the band, good times and bad, leave then people will not learn :(

You will do fabulously with your new tool!!!
