Has your slipped band been repositioned? Share your experience
Sometimes it works to reposition but more often it will end up requiring a revision. I have a relative who had a gastrectomy for cancer and he's perfectly healthy and doing great. The surgery itself has been done for decades just not as a weight loss surgery. I hang out on the sleeve board alot too and I haven't read one person who disliked their sleeve. I DO know hundreds of bandsters who are very dissatisfied with their bands tho! Myself if I had the option to get one surgery that will work with little to no followup like the sleeve I'd do that in a heart beat.
Good luck which ever way you go!

You are right about plenty of people not liking their bands now. I remember you from several years ago when I was on this site alot. Most of us loved our bands then. I am sorry you are having trouble too. What I think is a great injustice is that so many of us only have one shot at this. It is a shame that our tool has become at best ineffective, and at worse, dangerous and we are stuck with a dud WLS.
About your relative, how long ago did he have his gastrectomy?
My best to you!

Sorry to hear about you losing your band. Are you going to revise to something else? I went to a seminar for a new surgeon on Wednesday (my old doc is out of network now.) They were saying it is rare to have a band slip now. They also mentioned several sites to check out lapband info, but they never mentioned this site. Someone else on here told me that her doc said he thought they wouldn't even be doing bands in 5-10 years.

Banded in 2004, slip in 2007. Got it fixed, gained, gained, gained. If you're slipped I'd revise. I just did to RNY!
