Phentermine and the band

I have only ever posted once on here before because all of my questions thus far have been answered by all of you wise folks!
I have been banded for a year and a half, lost 83 lbs, and am very happy with my new size 8 body.  I had a slip in Dec and my band was empty for a while.  Ever since that I have become very sensitive to fills.  Everytime I get another slight fill, I become too tight and end up being miserable until I can make the hour and half trip to see my doc.
I have 15 more lbs to reach goal and was stagnant in my journey.  I saw my doc this past Monday and instead of another fill, he gave me a Rx for Phentermine to lose the remaining weight.  I take 1/2 a tab a day and since have lost 2 lbs.
What do you all think of this solution?  I think I am pretty happy but time will tell.  I welcome all comments and advice unless you are bashing the band.  I don't need it.  This is the tool I chose and I am commited to making it work.  Thanks!

Meh on the phentermine.  The likelihood is that, when you stop taking it, you will regain the weight unless you are doing something to remedy the band situation.

Which brings me to my concern: what exactly is wrong with your band?

I'd be far more concerned about figuring out what is wrong with the band than taking the phentermine.

Best wishes in your endeavor.

I went to a loss weight clinic where they prescribed this drug to help lose weight.  Soon after I went to my cardiologist for a refill on a prescription for high blood pressure.  He told me that I should not take this drug as it does affect the heart.  I immediately stopped.  When your cardiologist tells you this drug affects your heart, you stop!!!  I did!! I wanted to lose weight so bad, but not at the expense of having heart trouble.  Just thought you might want to know how it can affect you.  Good luck.

Hmm, I had forgotten that it could boost blood pressure.

Thank you for the reminder and good luck to you.

It's the "good" side of the old drug phen fen, if there is a good side to that drug.

The side effects are long lasting, and can cause permanent damage. The weight loss could very well happen with the drug, unfortunately, just like with every diet pill, or magic potion, once your body adjusts the effects of the drug (appetite suppression and sense of fullness) will subside and more often than not, the weight comes back.
