I posted earlier but I think i did it in the wrong forum. Oops.

Well, I'm new! My name is San, I live in Texas and I'm 28.

My WLS is set for July 6, and I'm extremely nervous. I'm hoping that in reading everyones stories, I can let go of some of this stress and anxiety :). I started a blog on here which is a good thing, I think. Maybe it will give me more of a chance to get to know people going through the same thing

San I am a huge supporter or WLS. The band........not so much. For many of us it has been a complete waste of time and money!

I would strongly suggest you read on the OH Revision forum. See how many bandsters are revising FROM the band. If the band was that great there wouldn't be all those bandsters wanting to put theirselves through the pain and expense of yet ANOTHER WLS now would there? Also go on the OH VSG, RNY and DS forum. Just state the same thing there. You will find plenty of FORMER bandsters on there so they can give you an accurate comparison of the band to their current WLS.

I would also suggest you do more research from various other sources. These would be a good start:

ASMBS Lapband Gets Low Marks

Government Subpoena's Allergan

Good luck!

I have to say that after reading that, I got a little scared! I've read a lot of stories, some good, some bad. I'm hoping that this is the right decision for me because it can be reversed if something goes wrong down the road. Thank you for your concern, I appreciate the time you took to link the sites. I read them thoroughly and  I'm even though I'm a bit concerned, I'm hoping that I don't have any complications.

Thank you

Hello and welcome to our Always Decrease Ever Expanding family. Know not matter which procedure you decided, we'll be here for you.

Also know none of these operations are 100% successful or failures. There are prons and cons for each. While I have been successful with the band for 4+ years and would recommend it, others haven't.

Do your research. Not only on the operation, but on YOURSELF. Try to figure out what type of eater you are. This may help in deciding which operation to have (example: high volume eater - band or sleeve; sweet eater - bypass/ds).

Good Luck on your Journey !!

Tom
