Did anyone see the new story of the "650lb Virgin"

There is a young man who did a sort of reality series a few years back.  He was in his late teens or early twenties at the time of the show and it chronicled his RNY or DS (can't remember which surgery) and his amazing weight loss and life transformation.  He even has lots of plastics once he was done losing and it follwed his journey through that as well..

He seemed sooooo happy and sooooo full of life at the end.

Well yesterday, he was on Today or GMA and the poor guys has gained back alot of his weight.  He's up to 400lbs again.  My heart BROKE for him.

Being overweight is not a club anyone ever wants to rejoin.

I saw that :(

I watched that reality show when it aired.  He was soooo inspiring.  It really is sad.

I hope he can get back on track....

If he is the one I am thinking about, he did not have WLS. He worked with a trainer and dietician. There may be others, but the original guy did it without surgery. I am very sorry to hear that!

You're right Iam.  I just looked it up and he did not have surgery.  I was remembering it incorrectly.  Maybe that's a good thing for him.  Maybe this time he can get a little surgical help in his journey.

Thing is, he did have a lot of reconstructive surgery, removal of excess skin and what haves.  I wonder what happens to your skin after something like that.  Does it stretch to thin to go back or not?

I had my arms done and when I regained weight, they plumped up again... but not as bad as they were before. I was kind of surprised at how much elasticity there is, though.  I imagine with a weight gain as substantial as this guy had, all the reconstructive surgery probably is undone to some degree. All that pain and expense. How disappointing and sad.

Bless his heart. I remember watching his original show.  I felt so sad for him but he really tried.  Shame no one got him the mental help he so much needed.

Oh how sad. My heart breaks for him. I hope he remains strong and can get back on track. He is an inspiration. My heart just broke when he started crying about how much he loves his girlfriend and how much her support means to him.

He lost his weight by moving in with his trainer (who is the guy that now does Extreme Makeover :Weightloss addition). They even started a business together to try and get other people healthy. However, as soon as his trainer moved on to do other things, his weight came back. It's sad...it really is.

Revised from band to sleeve on June 6th, 2012. Lost 48 pounds on my own in the 4 months prior to revision.
