should i get an "unfill"

I am scheduled for a tubal ligation surgery for June 19th.

I have 6 or 7cc in a 10 cc band.

I only feel restriction first thing in the morning. then for the rest of the day its like i never had the surgery at all. ( especially considering ive only gained weight since and have never lost an ounce :(
 )

My dilema is that i really don't want to start back at scratch with a complete unfill. it took a year to get them to put a total of 3cc in the band. i started out with a band that had 3cc at surgery.
I have to drive 2 hours for a fill and a weigh in. im broke, and unemployed...and don't want to reverse things now.

Has anyone else had minor surgery without having an "unfill"?

I am having this surgery because i desperately want to stop taking birth control. I feel very stongly that my struggles with weightloss and the band are directly linked to my depo-provera shot. I can almost plot my weight gain of 36 lbs over the last 3 years since getting the shot... like i gained a lb every month.  I am eating 1/2 of what i was prior to the band install  I have worked for the last 3 months a very physical job where i know i should have lost some weight... but i gained... so om believing / hypothesizeing/ praying that my suspicions about the hormone roller coaster that is depo... is my road block and that i will blow it to smitherenes with this surgery....

i would love to hear what you think!
( and im not writing in italics on purpose... it wont' let me change back!

Doesn't sound like your band is working and you need to meet with your surgeon to discuss your options.

To answer your question, I have had 2 plastic surgeries (arms/breasts about 18 months ago and then tummy tuck about 3 months ago) and I did not have any fluid removed for either procedure.

After my tummy tuck (about 6 weeks after), I went in for a small unfill becuase I was uncomfortably tight --- but I never had any nausea or issue from the surgical procedures.

My tightness in the Spring is more allergy related -- and I have had 3 small unfills over the last 3 years, all during allergy season.

Depo-provera is the devil.  At 23 I was diagnosed with endometriosis after a year of testing and severe pain.  The treatment was to stop my periods for a year using depo provera.  I sunk into depression, gained over 65lb (I was 150 lb prior and never had weight problems).  I couldn't believe what was happening to me!  The depo changed my metabolism and I continued to suffer with depression throughout my life.
I had gallbladder surgery last Oct and didn't do an unfill.  I had no problems post op.  I think that getting off the depo will help with your weight loss, but you are going to have to go back to square one, measure, log your food etc to get the most out of your band.  Good luck!

I agree that depo is a weight gain MACHINE!!!!!!!!!  I hope you don't have to have an unfill...and it doesn sound like you might need a little fill.  But I would wait until after your TL and make the decision then.

I have had a tummy tuck and later extended lipo and did NOT get my band unfilled for either. If you are not feeling restriction now, I certainly woundn't spend the money to get an unfill. Rather a few weeks to a month after the tubal, I'd ask my bariatric surgeon to add more fill.

I have has a lot of plastics and never I filled once! I fear the infill. I am perfectly set in the green zone and an unfill and refill later can make reaching that green zone more difficult!

12/09 and 6/11, 9 skin removal procedures with Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico
Revised to the Sleeve after losing 271 lbs with the LapBand.
