In what ways is your sleeve easier to live with?  I am finding my band is very fickle lately!

No stuck episodes, ever (if I eat to fast or don't chew well enough I might feel uncomfortable for a few mins, but no pain or the crazy hours of sliming and chest pain). My restriction is consistent,  I don't have to worry that at lunch time I am going to be too tight to drink water but by dinner be wide open enough to eat a horse. I can eat in public and not worry that I am going to have to find a bathroom if I get stuck.

Good, healthy, dense proteins fill me up, I don't have to resort to sliders or liquid diets because of "stuck episodes" to let my stomach rest, etc. Which for me, being a food addict, always triggered an overwhelming want to binge on bad food, b/c I don't do well with deprivation which is what I saw the liquid diet as.

Also, I had other autoimmune issues that *I* believe where triggered by my band, no doctor will give me a true thumbs up or down on it, but before my band came out I was on course to start a regime of chemo drugs to see if it would improve what they thought was a rare form of arthritis that happens in young people, but within a week of my band being removed my joint pain was gone and I have not had a reoccurring of it at all. Maybe a coincidence, but since I went under with debilitating pain and woke up sans band and sans shoulder and elbow pain (and within a week no more wrist, and hand pain, and my tests showed that I no longer had any inflammation in my body), I would say it was one heck of a coincidence LOL

There really needs to be studies done on what you're describing. I've seen SO many people say that they had debilitating pain in joints only to have it dissipate after band removal. There has to be a connection.

Inflammation would cause a lot of problems, I'd think. And it stands to reason. I can count myself lucky to NOT have had this, thankfully.  Just the chronic left shoulder pain, stomach pain, constipation... and then chronic hiccuping and sneezing. That was plenty!

I'm glad you're doing so well with your sleeve, C. AND I'm glad the pain is gone along with the band.

As a x-bander looking at the sleeve, I'd love a link to these. I can't find sleevers missing their bands, and I lurk a lot.

I keep hearing that thrown around, but I have yet to find one either. I for one do not miss my band at all!

I can't say that I miss my band for a second, not a single thing about it.

I've had both the RNY and now the Band (BOB) and nothing is easy, not even being fat! You are welcome to share your POV but thats all it is, your POINT OF VIEW.  WLS is very objective and particular to the human its done too.  Since not everyone's bodies are the same, not their behaviors, you CANNOT make such a blanket statement.  And, as someone who has had an RNY, I will foam at the mouth with my BAND ANY DAY OF THE WEEK to nit dump and shake and feel like I am having a hear attack.  And don't give me that BS about staying away from sweets, it happens on fruit and milk, very sugar loaded NATURAL items.

I agree with C ...the band is NOT for everyone but it was for ME and I am still loving my band at 7 years -- many do not ..please make sure you thorougly research how it works...IT IS A LIFE TIME COMMITMENT TO AFTERCARE AND FILLS and LIFESTYLE CHANGE ..if you are not willing or able to do those things you need to explore other options.....
