I've always been told, "Don't trouble trouble 'til trouble troubles you."

Relax, and wait til you talk to your doc.

Please take this time to do some research. You might now know as much about the Lap-Band as you think you know:

Your BMI should be a qualifying factor.

I love my band, but not everyone does.

Please do not get the band if you cannot commit to following the guidelines and rules set forth.  It takes effort every single day.

There are other WLS that require very little patient participation, other than recovering from surgery, but the Band requires your full commitment and not everyone can do that, but if you think you got what it takes, then go for it!!

Good luck!!

My Sleeve is WAY easier for me to live with then my band ever was, its more consistant and less worry, my weight has come off faster b/c I have less up and down days which means its easier for me to stay the course.

With that said, I fight for every pound that comes off my body, I log my food, I make good choices and I run my ass off (literally, I am up to about six miles at a clip now). Every surgery is going to require long term commitment, every surgery is going to require some sort of self control and motivation.

If any single surger was easy, everyone would have it and everyone would be a success, it's just not the truth.

I didn't say any WLS surgery was easy and everyone would have success.  Is that what you interpreted?  Heaven's NO!

The band is hard.

Of course, any WLS requires eating properly and exercising and overall a lifestyle change if you want to be successful. I don't begrudge anyone of that.

But the band compared to other WLS:  stuck episodes, how one extra bite can be the difference between feeling full and being miserable, pain, etc; not to mention all the horror stories about the band and the physical damage it can cause, the band is or seems to be much more of a daily commitment and struggle.

Therefore, it is more difficult to live with the band and it does require more of a commitment.   Not everyone is up for that challenge or can live with such "ups and downs" that the band provides.

As someone who has had both, I disagree. The RNY is harder bc with time you can eat more and more and requires more willpower.  The band can be algtered and modified you cannot do that with the RNY.

Oh, and BTW, milk and fruit is part of ANY DIET, so, it has nothingto do with willpower. These are 2 fine foods and are in ANYONE's post-op diet but they do make some people dump!

I do LOVE my band, but, I also loved the RNY from 2002 - 2007.
