1/2 Marathon...

Well today I signed up for the Dallas 1/2 Marathon in December. I plan on walking it, as I am not a runner. Earlier this year I did a 5K and I know that a 1/2 marathon is 13 miles vs the 3 miles I did before - but I'm up for the challenge. My boss & her husband are going to walk with me.  These next few months I will be working out more and more to get ready for this. I'm excited and scared at the same time. Any words of advice or encouragement will be accepted. :) wish me luck! ♥

Yeah, Jen!!!!

I walked my first 1/2marathon (4 years ago) and then run/walked 2 more.

You can google 1/2 marathon training programs --- Prevention Magazine has a good 12 or 16 week program for training to walk a 1/2 marathon that you might find helpful.

December in Dallas is going to be GREAT!!!!

The Tucson 1/2 is in early December -- chilly in the morning, but beautiful by the time we cross the finish line!!!

Good luck! I am running my first one in October, I am very excited. You will do fantastic! Just make sure you have good fitting shoes and don't wear anything that is 100% cotton (especially socks and underwear! LOL)

I ran the 1/2 in dallas this last year (my first) and I intend to do it again this year.  The course is great, it is relatively flat, and pretty fast - usually.

With that said, be prepared for any weather.  This last december it was 40 degrees and raining. But I had paid for it, I had trained for it, and by God I was going to do it if I had to crawl across the finish.

Good Luck! and have fun with it!

I'm running my first in October!  I've downloaded the program and have begun working it.  It's tough...I have legs like a gladiator...but my breathing is awful...I'm hoping I build up stamina.  Best of luck...and keep us posted on your progress.
