Band Problems
Please do start by finding a different doctor, that one sounds like a real idiot! It can sometimes be hard to switch doctors as other surgeons can be reluctant to take on a patient whose surgery was done elsewhere. I found that, when I needed to change doctors, the best way to work was by fax. Sometimes when you call and ask about a doc taking a new patient, the office staff can be kind of abrupt and not really listen to WHY you need to change doctors. I wrote a letter detailing my concerns and the problems I had with my current doctor and faxed it to several practices in my area. A practice that previously told me "no" when I called ended up calling to say that one of their surgeons would take me. Don't write a novel, but summarize the problems you're having, the concerns expressed by whomever checked your esophagus, and the treatment you've received from your current surgeon. State that you would urgently like to consult with another surgeon about revision surgery or further testing, then send it out. Start follow up calls a few days later.
