Based on the dismal Lap-Band stats, my best advice would be to revise.

Good luck!

I absolutely stay away from simple carbs (or white carbs like white bread & pasta, cookies, cakes) I eat lean protein, I drink NO calories (no coffee, soda, beer, juice).  Most of all I exercise and exercise some more.  I work in activity where ever I can.  I walk on lunch breaks.  I workout 6 times a week 60-90 minutes a day.  I walk to the store when possible.  Come up with new hobbies that burn calories...like bike riding, hiking, or gardening.  Also make sure you when you work out you do some muscle strengthening (not just cardio).  Muscles do a lot in helping you burn calories.  Sure in the beginning it may seem like you aren't losing as fast because muscle weighs more than fat but it really helps because the more muscle you have the more calories you burn.  That's why guys can lose weight faster than women.

These things have helped me maintain my weight loss so far.  I am 3+ years out and lost 154 lbs.

I lost 50 pounds NOT eating anything white... no white sugar, white flour, white rice.  I stayed away from processed foods, too.

Oh, thanks, Beachbunny... this was several years ago... but I'm working on it again!

I got Health Nut bread (has sunflower seeds and whole grains in it) and rotisserie chicken breast sandwich meat. I'd add red onion, lettuce, pickles and tomato. Some hot banana peppers on the side.  I tried to eat whole grains, veggies and fruit the most. I figured the fiber couldn't hurt anything, either!

I was really cookin' with gas, losing weight, and then I took a trip to NYC and had everything I wanted... and as soon as I started eating "stuff' again, I couldn't seem to STOP! I felt like godzilla.

Now I'm back on the whole grain, veggie and fruit "lifestyle" again. And I have SO much more energy lately.

Get a plan and follow it! Rule number one - Don't abuse your band.

If you hate exercise....start out small and start walking make it enjoyable...get an IPOD...put your favorite tunes in to make it more pleasant....and get a fill if you need one...the others gave you good ideas with proteins ...sometimes I drink protein drinks to kick start my weight loss..

And most importantly have a good support network online or in person...some of us VETS are really trying to GET KEEP THIS BOARD FROM BEING DESTROYED WITH BAND BASHERS....it really helps to stay motivated in a positive environment where others can lift each other up to build self self esteem and motivation

Good luck
