I had a 3hr. test and then met with the psych a week later to go over the results.  He was an independent psych but specialized in bariatric testing, he told me I should do great because I had no eating disorders or particular issues related to food. Also met with a nutritionist that works with the surgical group and she said I was already eating correctly so this would just cut my portions in half and have a good chance of weight loss. Well not so much!

I had a thorough psych exam.  It involved a questionnaire and a session with the psychiatrist.  They did ask questions about my sanity, past mental problems (if any), family background, and of course my understanding of the procedure I was going to have and expectations.

I had a psych eval. I don't remember specifics. There was a general psych history and questions about my expectations of the band. My psychiatrist at the time happened to be the doctor that performed all of the psych evals for lap bands at the hospital so it was pretty informal. My current therapist recently told me she sees some clients whose insurance requires them to go through three months of therapy prior to band approval.
