Why?
Based on the Revision and Regrets forums around here there are MANY people regretting getting the bypass, the DS is still pretty rare so those numbers many not count and there are also MANY Sleevers on the revision board NOT HAPPY with their weight loss and they complain about heartburn and reflux issues.....for it to be a "new weight loss surgery".
So WHY all the lap band hate? You SHOULD BE RANTING to your surgical team that apparently did not serve you well...OR you can't go back to them because you never followed up like you were supposed to? Is that correct ...so you are using the lap band forum as your new "Hate Pulpit"?
Helll over the years I 've seen MANY lap banders revise over the Sleeve and RNY AND DID NOT LOSE A SINGLE POUND AFTER THEIR REVISION...WHY AREN'T THEY BASHING THAT? WHY? They just quietly disappear from the boards....
You know over the years I've read horrific issues that happened to bypass folks, I even got friends that had RNY over 7 years ago and I've seen them in and out of the hospital several times and they never ever complained...even when they regain weight....
SO WHAT'S THE DEAL AND WHAT MAKES YOU SO ANGRY WHEN YOUR LAP BAND JOURNEY GOES WRONG?
I've gained some weight...I've also had some fill issues in the past, and my band almost slipped over 6 years ago...but I am not a band basher.....these things were easily fixed and I was responsible enough to do something about it.....
SO AGAIN....WHAT's THE BIG DEAL WITH LAP BAND???
Now...I am on vacation and will return later... ...I am eager for answers

There are sleeve, bypass, and DS bashers. To be honest, you are one of them. You are forever making it sound like every single sleeve, bypass, or DS person is dying or dead. We all supposedly have feeding tubes, TPNs, etc.
Seriously, you asked this question? For real?
When we write of our own band complications, when we post stats, studies, ASMBS studies, MD interviews, FDA info, that is not bashing. Don't kill the messenger.
There are far more banded and RNY people posting on the revision board than there are DS or sleeve. Probably 98% are band or bypass. You do have a way of making things seem to be exactly what they are not.

Again...if you go to the Search Box at the right upper corner of the page and type in "Sleeve TPN" "RNY TPN" OR "DS TPN" and or intensive care...I doubt you will get ANY or hardly one or two people on Obesity Help reporting horrible lap band complications...so I am not sure what you mean about WE post our on STATS, studies and complications....90 percent of lap band complications are band slippage....and if you google what causes band slippage...it is DUE TO LACK OF AFTERCARE --VOMITING ON A TOO TIGHT LAP BAND....so if the studies really dig deeper, I am sure surgeons will update WHY lap band complications occur...Only those who had legitimate issues that were not avoidable only have a right to bash the lap band..IMO...

You have done it to me in the past. You told everyone I caused my own problems when in fact, I was the poster child for banding. My band was never too tight, and furthermore, you don't get to decide who posts an opinion on banding anyway.
I had legit problems and you didn't want to admit the band can fail. I have NEVER told people their band will fail, I have never told someone they cannot succeed with a band.
If non banded people can't post about the band in your opinion, what gives you the right to post about sleeves, bypass, or DS?

BTW, if all these people *****vised from the band to another surgery type never lose a pound, instead they disappear, how do you know they didn't lose a pound? Where are all these posts? If there are that many perhaps you could point me in the direction of 20 or so of these people. I can point you in the direction of hundreds of failed bands, where are your revision people you refer to that didn't lose a pound after revising? I know of one person who didn't lose anything with her band, she revised to a sleeve. She lost about 100# and then revised to DS since she still had another 100# to go and she didn't lose a pound after her 2nd revision. That's the only person I know of.
I suspect it's because many of them were better informed of the possibility of risks and complications and/or did not take it so lightly since all of those surgery types are much harder or even impossible reverse. There's also no "device" to pin complaints on, only one's surgeon or one's own body.
Banded 03/22/06 276/261/184 (highest/surgery/lowest)
Sleeved 07/11/2013 228/165 (surgery/current) (111lbs lost)

I was still informed but I was told the stats are far lower than they actually are. I doubt I would have been banded had I known the truth. I was told slips are less than 3%, total lie. They are around 50%. I was told erosion was 1.3%, total lie, they are now reported to be at 33%.
Bands are not reversible. The are removable. I had a band, there is no going back to my pre band life, my body is damaged forever due to no fault of my own.
Sure, but would you be any less angry about what happened to you if the stats were lower but you were still one of the unlucky ones? I suspect you would feel about the same.

The reality is that the stats are higher and had I known that I would not have gotten a band period.
