I lost a total of 134 pounds I was 29 when I had my surgery and I wished I had it sooner as I regret wasting my 20's being overweight and depressed and unhappy.

I love my band, but I don't rely on it. I changed my over all view of food. I can honestly say that I am a food addict. I changed my relationship with food.

Food is for FUEL and to survive. It's not for comfort, love, support. I don't celebrate with food, Reward with food, Cope with food.

It's all about LIFE STYLE CHANGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got my Band a little over 3 years ago and I lost 154 lbs.  As long as I eat right and exercise I pretty much stay within 5 lbs of that weight.  The Band is a commintment and a lifestyle.  It doesn't do anything for you...you have to eat right and exercise or you won't be successful.

I haven't had any complications at all and except for having to wait for almost 18 months to reach my "green zone" I really haven't had any complaints.  I can eat any sort of food I want and I never have any stuck episodes now (in the beginning I did...I was still learning)  I do worry about what may happen in the future....but as of yet not one thing has ever happened.  I don't know if that is just me being paranoid.

I lost about 110#... went from about a size 22 to a size 10-12.

But, it was due to the fact that I couldn't eat solid foods at all. No fluid in the band... still unable to eat anything without gagging and extreme pain.

I lived on protein shakes, soup and ice cream. It was NOT fun.

I understand you will be dilligent with diet and exercise with the band. Why not be dilligent without it??? If you are diligent with diet and exercise you will lose weight. The band may...........or may NOT ever help with that. It's a crap shoot. The band functions as advertised for *SOME*. For most it does NOT do that long term. Why do you think you see so few that have been able to keep their band 5 years?!?!?!

I know the answers you want to hear here...........but I just can't lie and tell you what you want to hear. Even if you are diligent with diet and exercise, it is a matter of LUCK as to *IF* the band will even work for you.

But hey..............you want it................go ahead and get it. You'll find out eventually.

I lost 98lbs had some problems last year had a complete unfill and a 20 pound gain. Started refilling and have since lost a few of the extra pounds. Do your research and talk to your doctor. Pick what you feel will work best for you. All weight loss surgeries have risk and complications. Gook luck in what ever you choose.

I lost my first 100lbs in 5 months.  The rest has taken a bit longer.  I think it is totally possible to lose your weight and keep it off.

Revised to the Sleeve after losing 271 lbs with the LapBand.
