BLOCKING PEOPLE

I know the option to Block someone is there for us to use.  IF we spend hours defending our point, which I did yesterday and finally decide that banging my head against the wall wasn't working  - blocking would!  I encourage anyone to use it.  It works and if someone feels I am chicken (I heard from others this person formerly WASABUBBLEBUTT and MIDWESTERNGIRL is writing that about me) then I am chicken.

There comes a time that the drama has to end.  I blocked Midwesterngirl and I blocked her again when she was WASABUBBLEBUTT and I am now blocking her as CHANGINGFORTHEBETTER.

The negatively needs to end.  It helps no one and it doesn't allow the message to be heard.  If you have had a bad LapBand experience or a good one.  This is a place of support.  I am tired of being abused and harassed when I have only tried to encourage respect for everyone!

In all the years I've been on this board I never thought of blocking some. Until now . But I won't.

It's sad some when folks truly think the more they yell; scream; curse, threaten; and belittle you, it's going to make them (seem) correct. Little do they realize it makes them look the opposite.

Sorry you had to restort to this. I am glad I haven't been blocked ... yet !!

Keep up the great job you are doing here. Know it is appreciated!!!

Good Luck on your Journey !!

Tom

I very rarely post these days, for this very reason. But I have popped in to support you.

In common with the very many vets who have left this board, I not only accept but actually want to read about the bad as well as the good experiences. Again, like most vets, I do not deny the possible problems with the band. I welcome the input of people like Nic M, Buckeyegirl, ZeeStarlite and others who tell their tales without abuse, without terrifying the already banded and who have the decency to congratulate those who succeed without adding a rider that it won't last!

But I am not prepared to accept the blanket statements of some that band failure is inevitable; I am not prepared to be accused of lying; I am not prepared to be abused. So I stay away. I see no need to subject myself to the stress it causes me, illogical to be stressed by an anoymous board but it does affect me.

When people like me leave in large numbers, after years of giving support to people with problems, the board is the poorer for it. Not saying I am in any way special - is is the fact that so many of us have left that is damaging the support system.

This used to be a busy board, it now has only a fraction of the previous traffic. A shame.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I agree!  It really does get old, but I don't block.  Their opinions just don't influence me enough to hassle with it.  In nutshell....IMO, their personal assessments aren't necessary factual.  That would be like me saying since I have children, I know more than my pediatrician OR it makes me a pediatrician, so take my advice and ignore your children's doctor.

I present my issues to my surgeon and his staff.  I follow their advice.  Now, I will I make note of what others say and if I feel its legit, I'll mention it to my surgeon.  If I feel its exaggerated,  I won't .

I don't even read certain people's post, when I see who created it.  Why bother?   I know it will be  negative, not helpful.  In fact, I've often wondered what all these "well meaning" failed bandsters what everyone to do?  Run down to our surgeons and have our bands removed?  At whose cost?  On whose time?

I'm fortunate to have had as much success as I have had, but I realized prior to surgery.  I wish everyone had as much success as I have had.

Exactly! Should we go and just have our bands removed? No! But we can be diligent and pay attention to our symptoms and notify our doctor's of any changes, just as RNY patients, Sleeve patients, DS patients! It is all about paying attention!

I encourage all newbies to BLOCK ALL BAND BASHERS..their negatively harm not help. I've heard the "resident band bashers stories over and over and over again" there is only 1 or 2 that I have not blocked yet.

I don't see how people can stay on track and motivated with their weight loss efforts in a "support forum" with all this negativity...UNLESS they are secretly suffering as well....

They are not here to encourage and warn newbies about THEIR EXPERIENCE WITH THE LAP BAND, they tell the newbies that the lap band almost killed them and had to get their bands removed urgently and everyone who gets a band will suffer the same fate. Instead of telling the truth of all the vomiting they did daily and kept their bands too tight to the point it liked to killed them and all the horrible reflux they suffered from would be more of the truth.

Sure some people have legitimate issues of their surgeons installing their lap bands in the wrong place or some people may reject the band and some surgeons install the wrong size band also some people are more prone to vomiting and cannot adapt to chewing their food ...BUT THESE PEOPLE WILL KNOW RIGHT AWAY THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG and usually will have to get the band removed immediately....NOT YEARS LATER...

Of course the band bashers are not going to be honest of what LED TO THE URGENT BAND REMOVAL -- like trying to eat a BIG MAC ON A TOO TIGHT BAND AND GETTING FOOD STUCK -- I HAVE HEARD IT ALL, and MANY WHO GO TO MEXICO AND GET THEIR BANDS AND GET TOO TIGHT AND DON'T HAVE A SURGEON TO UNFILL THEM IMMEDIATELY, AND HAVING TO SPIT IN A CUP UNTIL THEY CAN GET UNFILLED -- WHO ARE THEY FOOLING? DO THEY KNOW MOST VETS KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU GET THE LAP BAND EXTREMELY TIGHT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME?...I've heard so many stories of lap band abuse it's very hard for me to believe someone had their band over 1 year and all of a sudden it turns ON THEM OUT OF THE BLUE WITH WITH A PROPERLY RESTRICTED BAND AND THEY ARE NOT TOO TIGHT? GIVE ME A BREAK AND TRY TO FOOL NEWBIES....

I call SALINE CRACK COCAINE...because SO MANY PEOPLE GET ADDICTED TO A TOO TIGHT LAP BAND...HENCE WHY YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE MANY BAND SLIPPAGES AND REMOVALS. --THIS IS WHY A LOT OF VETS LEFT THIS BOARD BECAUSE OF SO MUCH LAP BAND ABUSE.

The lap band is not like the Sleeve or RNY --WHERE YOU ARE GIVEN THE RESTRICTION THE SURGEON GIVES YOU....THE BAND CAN BE TIGHTEN TO THE POINT OF BARELY SWALLOWING YOUR SPIT.

I remember working with a girl who kept her lap band so tight she was never able to eat solid food, I learned she had a lap band in the restroom at work from a stuck episode, she was only able to drink her food the entire time she had her lap band --- she had her band URGENTLY REMOVED after only 1 year from vomiting many times every single day.....she refused to get an unfill because she says that was the only way she could stay in her size 6....but when she got her band URGENTLY REMOVED SHE BALLOONED BACK UP TO A SIZE 16 ...so if she would have used her band properly and exercised she would have kept her band.

MANY WHO HAD TO HAVE THEIR BANDS URGENTLY REMOVED ARE BITTER and only come back to this forum to harass and scare newbies, and flame those who still have a functioning lap band --instead the bashers should come here and say don't do what they did -- ABUSE THEIR LAP BAND...

It's unfortunately that the lap band forum has turned to this...it used to be the most supportive forum here and the most active...stay focused on your dreams and aspirations and you can't fail the lap band.
