found the following quote on a woman who lost 250 pounds on lap band. just had to post.

"Ignore the negative people- they are all around us. Stick to the positive ones who support your quest for your own health and are not judging you and your decisions. After all, who are they to judge your decision? Have they dealt with obesity? do they suffer from any of the co-morbidities? Do they actually care about you or what they are saying or writing or do they just need to vent their anger on the world? Make your decisions from an intellectual place, researching results, speaking with professionals. The lap band is not a CURE – it is a tool, when combined with lifestyle changes will help you achieve health and well being. It was the tool I needed to get my hunger and eating under control and my only regret, and remember I am just shy of 8 years post op, is that I did NOT do it sooner! Good luck on your journey."

these are the posts people should read and use to inspire

Beautiful...I am hoping many long timers would come back to the boards and support others in their quest from obesity....it's hard to stay on track and motivate and uplift those who are struggling  and give congrats to the successful people...when others are so negative and wishing harm on those who's bands worked for...it really is shame and actually evil....

Positive attitude is so important! I have had several complications... and am actually scheduled for surgery again next week. When I got negative about my experience, which I did numerous times, I let everything go. I stopped trying. I got moody and depressed. If I got back to positive, I felt better. I worked harder on maintaining my diet and I feel happier.

Yes, it cost me more than I originally thought it would. At least the surgery coming next week is actually going to be covered by insurance. Not sure why. Originally I was told I would have to pay for half of the procedure. Nice break on the pocketbook for a change!!!
