Exactly!

Revised from band to sleeve on June 6th, 2012. Lost 48 pounds on my own in the 4 months prior to revision.

That's true, Cheryl. No one ever thinks it will happen to them. I've watched it "NOT" happen to "them" for almost 10 years now... so, what do I know?

And, I do believe that I am done trying to help.  When people have problems, they can ask NanaB for help. She can inform them how they did everything wrong.

Those people with left shoulder pain can continue believing it's "just gas" and it will get better. It's a shame that they'll end up with permanent damage to the Vagus nerves, but I guess it's not my problem anymore.   I'm tired.

The reason I am apologizing to EVERYONE (those who agree and/or disagree with my post) is because this post turned into a free-for-all bashing of one another. That’s not why I wrote this. I don’t believe in bashing one another. Sure, I can disagree with you, but I will also try to give you the respect you deserve.

I truly get dismayed when I see people turn their disagreements into personal attacks. There is no need for it. Just because I say it’s blue, but you say it is red doesn’t make me/you a bad person. Heck, for all we know it may be violet.

So because you got dragged into an argument, and nasty things were said, I apologize for causing this.

And now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Good Luck on your Journey !!

Oh Tom I don't agree with what you wrote, but you are certainly free to post whatever you want. There are those of us on here that don't agree. It's a public forum and there will NEVER be a public forum where everyone agrees. It's not a forum for successful bandsters...........or a forum for those of us with failed bands. It's everyone's forum.

I do feel that you don't understand. But then again, most don't really understand until it happens to them. Regardless...........you're one of my favorite band cheerleaders.

I have to agree with Cheryl, it seems like the pro banders blame those whose bands failed them for the bands failing.  I agree that some people may misuse the band, however, I know that I followed the rules, was told how I was being the perfect patient, and the band still failed me.
Like Nic, I almost died because of the band.  No Nana, it was not because of ME, it was because of the band...

I have come to learn that certain people just want drama.

If people really want the facts on what can happen, then we are here to say, it CAN happen to anyone.  The failure is NOT because of what we do, it is because of what the band does to us.

I am glad that some people have had luck with the band, however, don't tell everyone that WE failed our bands if you do not want to really listen to OUR story

I think it's unfortunate that people immediately assume it's the Bander who causes failure of the LapBand.  I do not.  I want to hear the facts because I believe that 'knowledge is power' and it's important that we not sit on problems hoping they will go away.  Hearing from those who  have had problems help encourage us to see the doctor when things start.  Too many times I have heard people say, "oh it's not a big deal, it will be okay"  -- as we've heard from Nic and several others it is a BIG deal and it doesn't go away, it just keeps getting worse.  You have to tell you story for the pre-op people, but also for those of us who have our bands.

Wow, this is neat, I got an OH notificaton my e-mail that contained the following:

Changingforthebetter has posted a reply to your post, ' Did the BAND really FAIL???? ' on LAP-BAND Forum

Original message was:
Sometimes you just have to stop flogging the dead horse. Some folks will never learn how to communicate in a way that helps them share their perspective without alientaing people at the same time. All...

Changingforthebetter's reply was:

And just for the record, you are just as much of a butt as you have always been.  I can't wait for the day your band fails you AGAIN and you need help in revisions.  OMG, I have never written that...

And yet, when I come back to this thread, that post is nowhere to be found.

For the record, I don't call people names and I've certainly never hoped or wished for anyone to experience failure or complications, and yet *I'm* the "butt" here?
Thanks for proving my point.

You know what's really sad? I may very well have a revision in my future, something I've always been honest about and always considered to be a possibility. I would be most likely to look at a VSG, except the one thing that gives me pause is that I find it hard to imagine relying on many of the other people who have revised to VSG from band for support because it seems as though so many of them are just plain unpleasant people!
