Sweet NSV from a humiliating experience

In January 2008, I signed up to do the Phoenix Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon.
I joined the Prevention Magazine team -- and worked to train (virtually) with them.
I got their team t-shirt and was mortified when even the biggest shirt they had did not fit me.
I was the only person in the team photo that was not in a team t-shirt.
I did not get cheered on during the race as part of the team - because no one knew I was part of that team. I was embarassed -- and disappointed to not be able to fully participate.
I did finish the race --- and I kept that shirt.
This weekend, I wore the shirt to the gym and it is now so big that it chafes my skin when I run --- so, it is about to go into the 'donate' pile.
My too small shirt is now a member of the 'too big' club ----- and that bad memory is going to go out the door with it.
Hang in there, everyone --- today's disappointments are stepping stones to tomorrow's victories!!!!
