I will admit, I did go too far. Dev seems to always want to respond to my posts with the same info about OTHER WLS's, so I was annoyed.

I hear ya.  Just take this advice... Life is just too short to be so angry all the time.  How do I know??? Because that's how I rolled for so long.  It's just soooo draining.  I still have my moments, LOL, but I'm learning to let certain things roll off my back.  I just saw it as she was frustrated with you and put other stats up and you were frustrated with her so you wished her harm.  I know that's not you.  I know you want everyone to be well or you wouldn't be on here warning people.  but it's these caddy back and forths (and no you are not the only one to do it that's for sure...I was soooo guilty of it in the past) that gets people sick either physically or emotionally or both.  I'm not even a part of this tit for tat convo and I was drained after reading it.

I promise I am not attacking you.  I hated seeing when others said mean things to you.  It just seems hardly anyone posts in here anymore and I hate that some people aren't getting the support they may need if they already have the band.  Does that make sense to anyone?
I've been on prednisone and chemo for over 7.5 years.  Gained over 160 pounds due to pred. Highest wt. 410. Surgery wt. 365. Current wt. 299

It does. And I'm sure you're right. I must annoy her just as much as she annoys me. Never really looked at it like that. Sometimes it takes a different point of view  to point things out some times.

So, if I can find risk and complication information on each surgery types in mere seconds, why are there so many people who seem to think that this information is somehow hidden or not available?

Don't just visit one site for information on ANY surgery type! Use our little friend, google, and do some research before you commit to any surgery!

As someone who was banded in 2006 (I was 2007) you should know that these were NOT the statistics given back then. Google all you want this was not what they were telling us then!!

Back in 2003, all I got was a videotape of Ann Wilson telling me how the lapband worked miracles for her. There was some Heart music playing... and some flashy video work. My surgeon told me that I had "only" 100 pounds to lose, so the band would be infinitely better for me. He said, "It's safer."

And I trusted this information to be true. Turns out, he just wanted to start  making some more money doing bands... and then he took a nice trip to Hawaii. Seriously, the mush mouthed dickhead just knew that the lapband would be a money-making endeavor and wanted to get in on the action.

Probably not. As with any procedure, more information becomes available over time. The newer the procedure is, the less information will be available and the less accurate it will be. However, I had my band placed in 2006 and my surgeons office (while they did things I wasn't fond of) did at least one thing right, and that was making sure I knew about all possible risks, even if they felt at the time that they were remote risks. When physician's fail to do this I place the blame squarely on them. No surgical procedure should be undertaken without truly informed consent, and that doeasn't mean glossing over all the possible complications in 10 seconds and then asking a patient to sign, it means truly making sure they understand the risks before you let them commit.

I was to informed and given all the information about the complications that were available at the time, and yes, as time goes on things will come up. However, I did not lose my band due to erosion or slippage. I lost my band due to a very severe case of gastritis that completely engulfed my pouch and would not and could not heal due to my band being there and causing so much restriction while completely unfilled that I was on liquids for over 3 months. I researched like crazy when I got my band because that is who I am.... this was not something I thought could or would ever happen to me and by absolutely no fault of my own!
