I have been reading several post from every one and alot has scared me....more negitive than positive! So my question to you all is "Did I make the right choice with banding?"

I will put it like this, I did not want my stomach removed, or insides rearranged -- and almost 7 years and so far so good for me, I don't keep my band extremely tight, it has not been perfect, but knock on wood, nothing major and my life is normal.

At least IF YOU DID NOT MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE...YOU STILL HAVE OPTIONS -- to get it removed ...if something greater comes along in weight loss technology that is safer than all other weight loss surgical options. If you chose another more invasive option that removes or rearrange your insides your options will be slim.

Good luck

No one can answer that but YOU, we don't know your eating habits, medical history or weight loss goals...but whatever you decide good luck to you.... the band was the right option for me, but may not be the right option for others.

Only you can make that choice. I have had a few rough patches so I am not sure i made the right choice but my three co-workers had no problems so far. I should also say that the rough patches are NOT of my own doing even my doc praises how well i am sticking to the rules and doing what i am told. My body just didn't react as others did. yes, i am losing weight but my body is extremely sensitive to fills and stress causing me to need unfills and causing me pain sometimes extreme pain. No I am not too tight but when i do get too tight I go in and get an unfill.

One is 3 years out and 2 are 2 years out.

That's not uncommon for for bandsters to still be doing well 2 or 3 years out. 5 years seems to be a critical point. Very few make it 5 years out from my observation., although the report from the subpoena mentions 6 years.

Oh hell NO! I relied on the published stats. However most Drs. do not report band complications, so the stats are NOT accurate! I also relied on the "lap-band advocate" that apparently works on commission!

I wouldn't recommend the band to my worst enemy. It was a complete waste of money!!!

I would suggest you read the failed band groups, revision forums and also go on the VSG, RNY and DS forum and ask about the band. You will find lots of former bandsters on those forums, so they can give you an accurate comparison of the CRAP-BAND to their present WLS!

Its not a overnight fix but if you work your band and stay away from band no nos like drinking with meals and bread items and eat small portions you really can be a success. Give the band time to prove itself i am sure it will be worth it i just compare my before and after pics and i know it was worth it for me.  Besides not having to be on alot of medicines i was before the band  good luck
