Okay so my cycles have been a little off. The last two months My cycle came 1 week late. So My cycle would be today. I know you are all thinking so why are you freaking out already. Well on Friday I started spotting. I have always been like clock-wor****il the past few months. So is the spotting my cycle? Could I be pregnant? Is this just because of my weight loss? I took a test and it was negative but I am freaking out. How long should I wait to see if my cycle shows up before calling a doctor?

If you took a test and it was negative you probably are not pregnant. I would give it a couple more days if another test come up negative you will have your answer home test are usually pretty accurate. I waited three months to see a doctor when I was pregnant with each of  my kids

Thanks for your reply. I have always been every 28 days and test positive with all three of my kids before my cycle was due. I always knew when I was pregnant. The spotting really worried me because I have only had spotting when I was preggo with my first child. I was more concerned that if I were pregnant that I don't eat nearly enough. So I was freaking out in my head about making sure a baby gets what it needs. Anyway will keep you posted.

Always feel free to check with your Dr. - this what they are there for!

You didn't say how old you were but as I started to lose weight with my band two things happened at once to throw my cycle off.

1) As you lose weight your body releases estrogen that has been stored in the fat - that can definitely disrupt your cycles.

2) I headed north of 40 and my cycles started to vary both in terms of # days between cycle and length and heaviness of cycle.  Welcome to peri-menopause!

I used to be so regular you could set your watch by my cycle. Now I'm anywhere from 21-28 days between cycles and 1-2 light days to 4-5 heavy days - getting older is a *****!

The first time it happened to me I went 5 weeks and totally freaked out as I've NEVER gone past 28 days unless I was preggo but all was fine.  That cycle, when it did come was light and then the next one was on-time and very heavy.

My cycle went bonkers after my weight loss.  I know everyone is different but I think some cycle changes happen after significant weight loss.  I didn't even bother going to the doctor.  As long as your period shows up and the flow is normal...I think it's fine if your cycle is days or even a week or more off.  My period regulated it's self a few months after my weight loss evened out.
