Eating out with the band is a good thing

Last night when I went to my bowling league banquet it really hit me how much my eating habits have changed since getting the band a year and half ago .

I had a four course dinner last night it was a special I knew I wouldn't be able to eat all of it but hell when you have a teenager at home nothing goes to waste lol.

I started off with onion petals it was a pretty good size appetizer more then I expected. I had about 5 of them there was probably a good 20 in the basket ( I hardly ever eat anything deep fried anymore.)

Then came a house salad I ate about half of that with fat free dressing .

For the main course I had a veggie skewer with tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and zucchini . 6 oz oz sirloin steak. I devoured the veggies those rocked and I ate about 2.5 oz of steak ( got my steak for my lunch today yum )

Dessert If you have been to Logan's Steakhouse they give you a little dessert in a pail. Its about five bites or so . I did treat myself to a strawberry cheesecake :o)

I was telling my hubby last night before I got the band I would have ate everything on that plate . I would have gotten a 12 oz steak, and I would have loaded up on fries instead of eating veggies.

It's the little things like this that tells me I am really changing my eating habits .

I am so dang proud of myself because this time a year and hal*****his would have never happened eating out .

I give you SOOO much credit for being able to pace yourself.  For me, portion control is my weakness (hence the band) so I can't order apps, salad and dinner. I have to pick one thing and ask for a box with my meal so I remove the majority of the food and won't over eat. Plus I want to be finished with everyone else so less food than them makes me eat slower.

KUDOS to you for having such great self control!!!

I wish I had the chance to try to eat out!! Hubby won't take me out since I don't eat anymore!! lol
I do eat special lunches that the hotel does for the associates and do rather well..except love steak when tender so I always eat too much, but leave the other things alone!
here is my applause !!

Thanks Ladies :o)

Stacy it's hard I wanted to eat more of them onion petals those was sooo good lol.  I dont eat stuff like that at home no more and we dont eat out that often so those things are a major treat to me .  I brought them home with me and gave them to my son and said either eat them or put them in the trash.  I knew if I kept them around I would probably end up snacking on them . ( I am having issues of snacking at night )

Salads those are not so much as a treat because I eat them at all so I can take and leave the salads lol.

Mary,  hubby dont worry about when we eat out what I dont finish he will eat or I have a 17 yr old boy that will eat it lol.  Nothing goes to waste since my surgery lol.

PS if its not hubby or son its my puppies

I was reading your menu and thought what would I eat....

Well I wouldn't eat the onion things (I don't like onions) or the salad (I don't really like salads).

I would have ate the entree.  The steak and veggies.  And the cheesecake of course....hahahaha.

I love eating out, the portions are so huge most places that I can make 3 meals out of my one meal, so I feel like even a fairly pricey dinner is really pretty cheap!

I am with you Dev. I eat out several times a week. I either take a small portion off my husbands plate, order a kids or senior meal and still take half home, or order a full size meal and eat it for four meals! I hate to cook. I just log it all in MyFitnessPal to keep myself honest.

Congrats Steelerfan!

Before I had my surgery, I told my husband we could start sharing meals...then he went vegetarian! He has recently started eating meat so we share a bit. I don't mind making 3 meals out of one. I miss eating out as much as we did but I'm saving money and will spend it on new clothes (eventually).

I dont miss eating out as much as I thought I would.  Oh I have my days where I want to eat out like today . It's so hot outside I dont feel like heating up the house to make my Cornish hens tonight for dinner .

I still crave my pizza like there is no tomorrow though. That is one of my favorites and I can eat that three times a day lol.  So I allow myself one night a month for pizza night and boy is it delish lol.  That is one food that I can not have leftovers because I will sit there and eat it .

We do pizza night on Fridays. I still eat pizza but it has to be the super thin crust digiorno or I get stuck on it. I have a small piece, my toddler has a small piece and Kevin eats the rest! HA! He runs and can pretty much eat whatever he wants...yes if I didn't love him, I'd hate him LOL
