I'm disgusted with all of you, the "successful banders"
When will you understand that band failure is real and that it can happen to you eventually?
Maria F. posted a topic yesterday about pre-ops beware about complications. It got pulled. Why would you report her? How childish!
Lapband failure is very real and not fun to deal with. It can also lead to severe depression because it is a very emotional thing to have to cope with.
Please, those so called successful bandsters, have more compassion for us with the failed/complicated bands. If you don't, remember you will have a very special visitor named Karma.

Why the hell are you lumping all "successful banders" together and chastising us all? I've never said a negative thing to ANYONE who has been unsuccessful, and CERTAINLY not to Maria. And for you to post this and call anyone else "childish" is the pot calling the kettle black.
Why don't you take a deep breath and just tongue-lash the people who DESERVE it, 'kay???

Maria's thread was not pulled because of the content but because of the personal insults.
Please could you fnd just one post of mine, over six years posting on here as a bandster, in which I have blamed a bandster, denied possible problems, failed to support those with concerns.
It is posts like this which chase long term bandsters away. I left for a while but then came back a few days ago. Since then I have seen vitriol addresed to Jean, a post implying 50% of bandsters over five years out are likely to get potentially fatal necrosis of the stomach and now this!
Get a life! I m very sorry you have had problems. I am fully prepared to accept they were not of your making. But this threads helps no-one.
Kate
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I didn't see it as an attack. I saw it as a warning. If someone claims that if you read their book that you can live "happily ever after with your band" as she does...........well as we all know, that's is just NOT true! The purpose of the thread was that pre-ops need to beware, b/c even though some "fairly bandmothers" claim that it works well and that complications are rare, doesn NOT mean that is the truth!!!
Kate in that other post I took it to mean that the woman stated that after 5 years that it was a 50% slip rate.
Now as far as attacks............it seems rather strange that when jean attacked ME all those times that her posts didn't get pulled!
Thanks so much for the support Paula! As you know, it's something those of us with failed bands don't always get around here, so it's nice to have someone speak up when I started yet another thread to inform pre-ops about the dangers.
I have to say thought that Bette has been very good to me. She and I completely disagree about the band! But she has been very respectful toward me and my posts. She may not agree with what I say, but she knows I am doing it out of concern. She "get's it".
However I know exactly how you feel, and it sometimes does feel like "all of you successful bandsters". Expecially when I am being ganged up up. At times like that I have to step back and keep in mind that there are a few members like Bette on here.
Now come on Paula and Bette!

Hey Maria!!Just curious.....how do you know when a post is taken down? Do you receive notification from OH or do you just realize it's gone?
I didn't read it, but I wish I had!! LOL
I received several emails and PM's informing me that it was gone. When I looked through my emails, I had one from OH stating it was moderated. It's always blocked as well, so you can't respond to it.
