Small victories
Just had to share... Before my band friend, I had trouble walking from one side of a parking lot to a store, etc. Last year, I spent the summer building up to 3 mile walks 3-4 times a week. The winter got a little sluggish, but I'd fit in several workouts on the eliptical. Thank God the weather started getting nice (however, we woke up to seven inches of snow today, ERGGG) anyways, yesterday (while the sun was still shining) my husband and i started on a walk, ended up walking five miles and running two. I couldn't believe it was me actually running. It was very emotional and for one of the first times in my life, I felt a huge accomplishment in my life. My goal is at least a 1/2 marathon (with no time frame), I know I'll get there, but I also believe yesterday could have never happened without my band friend. ;) Just had to share.
I have been running for a while now, and just recently had my very first complete wipe out (wasn't paying attention and tripped over my own two feet) and let me tell you, the only thing it did was make me mad enough at myself to run the rest of the way home (with blood running down my leg and arm).
Sometimes you just have to get out there and do it despite the fears (I know, I was terrified to run in front of people, but I am so over it now LOL).

You did fantastic! Congrats.
I suffered with that fear for so long that it actually kept me from running for a long time, now I am at the point where I just could not care any less about what others think. I figure at least I am OUT there, while most people are home on the couch so who cares what it looks like while I do it!
Keep going for it, you are worth it!
