In a nutshell. I was doing well losing slowly. Lost 82 lbs from pre op. Then gained 3 1/2 lbs and was getting bad reflux. Started vomiting often. Then final straw night coughs for two days. Called dr immediatly removed 2.75cc. Felt relief. took ugi and showed my pouch had gotten a little distended. Doc had me wait 10 weeks and another ugi which showed major imporvement (after 6 weeks). He put in 2cc. I had only put on 2 lbs because i was vigilant and measuring. He wanted to do more i said no. Mt band feels great. I have my soft stop back. Eating 4 oz of protein.
In 4 weeks i lost 2 lbs. which is great byet not. He wanted to give me more this time i said no cause  was nervous from last time. Now i am frustrated because i am not losing.
So do you think i should call for another flll or wait a mo and just step up my exercise and hope for the best.

I would personally step up the exercise.  In m opinion only its way better to work with a looser band and have some self control *IE measuring , watching what you eat*  then taking the chance of getting into problems again.

We have seen so many posts where people didn't know they was tight and ended up with problems its just not worth it in the long run to lose a extra 2 or 3 pounds per month or you lose your band competly.

Wendy that's a difficult question. I have had 19 fills and 4 partial unfills. On the unfills they just unfilled a portion of what they had just put in. But it's strange how they could do that, and then when I went for the next fill, they would put in more than was in on the previous fill and it would be ok.

I agree with the others.  You want to go very slowly with this.  I would be very vigilant about your eating step up the exercise.  Let things rest awhile longer.  If you find in a few more weeks you still want more of a fill I would go with .5 ccs.  Don't go back to where you were...at least not right away.  I would take my time.

I wouldn't use not losing weight as a reason for a fill...... if you are getting your soft stop getting in 3-4 oz of solid protein, some veggies and a little carb if room and staying satisfied for 3+ hours then you are where in my opinion you should be. But that is just my opinion.

Being tighter does not guarantee that you will lose in fact when some people are too tight they start eating slider foods and gain.

I too are a slow loser always have been....1/2 pound a week might not seem like much but you are losing.....sometimes I don't lose for a month then one day 5 or more pounds are gone....

If you are watching what you eat, and exercising the weight should come off....eventually........mine still isn't but my age is there now lol.....

I know I don't personally want to go tighter because my levels seem to vary from time to time and I want to preserve my band and keep it for as long as I can.

Of course you know your body best but I would give it more time and if there is something maybe you could change......our bodies are great at getting used to routine.....

Maybe change the type or duration of exercise, change the type of food you eat just shake things up a little maybe........

I agree. I just went to the doctor this week and told them I did ot want another fill. I am only three months out with 3cc's, but I am not hungry for 7-8 hours after a cup of food. So, why change things.

She told me that was the right thing to do since I wasn't hungry and specifically said that you may go a month with no weight loss and then a bunch fall off. That is ok. She said change up your exercise. Do things differently.

Be patient and keep up the exercise and watch what you eat.

Sounds like you are getting better and we want to see it stay that way.

So glad you didn't suffer long, Wendy. Kudos to you for calling your doc right away.  I would only add that my doctor believes in more conservative fills, never more than 1cc, I except for the 3cc prefill.

I agree with the others in not rushing to get a fill, especially if you are feeling satisfied for so many hours. I only recently got a fill when I started waking UP hungry and then starving every 2 hours. I have lost inches and weight throughout this journey but mostly not at the same time.  The scale can even show I GAINED when it's jus****er weight. (especially after yummy tortilla soup). I just know my clothes fit me looser every single month...just takes a while for the scale to catch up.

5.0 cc in a 10cc lapband  (four  fills) 1 unfill of .5cc  on 5/24/2011.
.5 fill  March 2012. unfill of .25cc May 2012.  Unfill of .5cc June 2014.

Still with my lapband with no plans for revision. Band working well since

last small unfill.
