Since you have had your surgery...how many times have you vomited???

I think I am a rare case in that I am just the opposite of those that can't tolerate the band.  I have about 9.8 ccs in my band and can still eat 4-6 oz and 1/2 fruit or veggies (and more if I allow myself).  I almost never get stuck...EVER.  I can eat whatever I want...nothing is really on my "no-no" list.  I just can't a huge plate of spaghetti anymore...now I eat maybe 4-5 bites.  But I can still eat pasta, bread...anything.  So I guess I am EXTREMELY tolerant of my band.  I can chug a glass of water at a time....I have heard people say they have to sip.

I can prettymuch eat like I did before just MUCH smaller portions!!!

The only bad thing about being as tolerant as I am is that I can eat what I want...which my will power has to work for me.  I have to say no to things because I shouldn't eat them...not because I can't eat them.  It also took me 18 months to get to full restriction!!!

I have had my band for a year and half now . I have thrown up once on beef jerky.   I was hungry and gulped down a big piece and it was hot and I chugged water, big mistake.

That is the only time I have thrown up. I have gotten stuck twice due to my own fault eating to fast and to big of a piece. It didn't come back up it worked itself down but it hurt.

I think and this is just my own opinion people go and get fills thinking that they will get this full feeling like they did before we got the band and that is wrong.   They keep getting more and more fills and then it starts to become a problem.  That is when a doctor should step in and say something to his patient .  There are many times my girlfriend wanted a fill and my doc said no because it could cause her problems .

My doc has always told us in support group its much better to work with a slightly looser band then one that is tight and you dont even know it (which we have seen many times on here and even by vets ).

I never have thrown up, never PB'd..... I guess I am strange but if for some reason I did get something stuck (eating too fast or too big a bite) I just got nausea, I used to jump up and down till the nausea past or I burped (nothing coming up)...........I don't  get that way anymore since my unfill and fill.....I keep it loose, like Crystal can eat 4-6 oz of solid protein and about a 1/4 veggie or starch and can  eat anything......although I am trying not too because I need to get back to my lowest weight lol.....

I am going to be 4 years in June, lost 90 total, kept it off for almost 3 years, 27 gained after unfill in November (damn holidays) still have about 18 to go to get back to lowest.........

Going to keep it on the loose side....need to hang on to it as long as possible LOL....

I have had my band 39 months and the first 6 months it seemed like I would throw up every time I ate. Knowing what I know now I was receiving to large of a fill every time I had one. In the last 33 months I have not been sick at all. I had a complete un fill last year due to my band tightening  up from allergies,  before the un fill I had 8.5cc in a 10cc band and still did not feel like I had a band. I could eat any thing including bread pasta ect. I left my band unfilled for about 6 months and started refilling I now have 6cc in a 10cc band and can say I really have to watch how I chew (something I have never had to do) I can still eat anything but really need to chew  meat or I get stuck( I do Not Throw up) just have a lot  of pain and slim.
I consider my self a success I lost a total of 90 pound I had a 20 pound regain while un filled but have lost 5 of the 20.

Lapband - Jan 2009 weight goal reached with lapband. Revised to VSG- 1/25/16

Chrystal your post almost jinxed me! Lol. I got stuck tonight and thought I might have to come back on and say add another one to that, but it seems to be going down now. As I mentioned to another bandster tonight, when I get stuck I forget to try to drink something to get it down (or back up). I'm used to now not drinking for 30 mins. after I eat, and when I'm stuck I tend to think I have to wait 30 mins. after It goes down to drink. But as most of you know.......when it's stuck.........it can be that way for hrs. Anyway this time drinking did seem to move it down. Guess to morrow will be a soup and yogurt day.

I had my surgery 6 months ago.  I've never vomited. and hopefully, never will.  So far, I consider myself succesful-i'm down 73 lbs, as of friday i am off ALL medications.  I appreciate the people who have had problems posting about them-especially in a non nasty way.  it's all good information that i put in my "tool box" to be aware of.

I have been banded 15 months now and I have thrown up maybe twice - and again this was MY fault for eating too fast.

Honestly the only time I know I have my band is when I eat too fast.  Other then that all is good.

I do "so far" consider myself a success.  I can eat whatever I want...breads..pasta and such.  But I always only eat the 3-4oz at a time.

Like someone else mention I do see my surgeron every 6 weeks.  I only have a $20 co-pay for visits and fills.  So I go see him all the time.  And "IF" I need a fill we only do .5 CC's each time.  I personally don't want it that tight.  But then again I think I'm at a good spot with fills.  I know I have a 10CC band and I think I have around 6CC's in it now.  I have another appointment coming up in May and if all goes well I just might cancell that appointment as I'm eating my right portions and such.

I do LOVE my band.  I'm down 60lbs since surgery and that is fine with me.  I know I could be down more...and I could be doing better...but I am down the 60lbs and living my life...I do eat out at least twice a week and I do admit I have whine and/or a drink when I go out.  But I am aware that this is on ME.

I know the weight will come off.  But I am single and living life.  And that comes with food and drinking LOL.  I do always TRY to eat healthy when I go out.  Ok I did say TRY !!!

Before surgery I couldn't walk or stand for a long period of time.  I have OA in both of my knees and the weight was killing me.  At this time I can stand and walk (still with pain but NOT like it was)  I was living on Vicdon and Celebrex.  And now I am OFF all of meds.  So to me alone that is being successfull.

Ok now that I answered more then what was asked I will leave LOL.

Have a good day all.

I love my band too, Denise!

I got sick once, but my surgeon and his staff warned me that I would have to eat slowly and chew thoroughly or that could happen.  I've gotten stuck a few times, without throwing up, but I blame myself for eating too fast.

And most of the time, I still eat with a baby spoon and baby fork (at home) to avoid putting too much in my mouth.

Also, I still go to see my surgeon every 6-8 weeks.  We discuss in detail what's going on and how I'm progressing, so I guess I'm just one of the lucky ones (for now)!!

There were times I got stuck twice a week for a while. All of it my own fault. Eating too fast, not chewing enough. NO one to blame buy myself. NOT my band. It was a process of self discipline and finding the right fill level.

While I was banded ( removal 5 days ago) I probably vomited maybe 10 to 15 times in 4 1/2 years. I did have a bout of food poisoning once though. Dry heaving that's another story... Hundreds of times...
