Crazy things have been happening in my world.... besides working fulltime, school part time, trying to grow a baby, be an involved wife and in process of trying to buy a house, Phew! I'm all tuckered out.

So it really caught me off gaurd when the woman I meet with every week for my nutritional check-in said she wanted to refer me out to a nutritional counselor for eating disorders. WHAT??? I've been muddling just fine for over 3 1/2 years with my band. I'm 4 months pregnant and I've managed to maintain my weight loss these last few months. I'm not losing or gaining. I call that a success. I get in all my calories from my calculations and I'm getting in all my suppliments. Just because I occassionally get stuck and might vomit, and we're talking like once every few weeks, DOES NOT MEAN  I'M BULEMIC! For the love of god, all the other prego mommas I've talked to are still hurling their guts out practically daily. I've been holding it together pretty well, If I do say so myself.                     UGH!!!!

Wow, what were her reasons?  From what I remember you saying, she was very excited to work with you because you have the band.  Don't let her get you down, hon,  Hugs!!

I have no idea. She didn't give a reason. I know she's frustrated with me because we can't get a truly accurate calorie count. She wanted me to switch to boxed process foods for a week so we could get an idea, but I argued this wouldn't be accurate given that I don't eat that crap normally. I did it anyway... I shouldn't have even tried and i knew it. 99% of those instant lunches are paired with pasta or rice. So i grab my lean cuisine and instantly get stuck on the lasagna. I kept what I ate down, but it was only the veg, the sauce, what ricotta i could scrap off and two bites of noodle. UGH. Well thats certainly not accurate.

I'm just so freaking frustrated. One meal I can clear my plate and the next I only get 5 bites in and I'm hurling from getting stuck. I feel like a newby all over again.

I know you don't normally suffer with things like that with your band, but I did.  That's why I had to revise.  My band acted psycho with when and what it would let me eat.

Sorry that she has made you feel this way,  I would be upset, also.

While I was pregnant my band was a MESS, I used to call it Sybil (like the chick with the multiple personalities) b/c one moment I was amazing and the next I could not swallow spit. It's all hormones and water retention and crazy fluctuations, your body is making BIG changes! I think it's insane that she put you on boxed crap since the salt in them is INSANE and not a good idea while pregnant (not to mention the water retention it will cause!).

Stick with your healthy, non processed foods and tell that crazy lady to take a flying leap LOL

What are this woman's qualifications?  Is she a true nutrituonist with expereince working with not only pg woman but bariatric patients?  Because from the tone of your post I think not.  I am a lactation consultant with over 25 years of maternal child nursing experience.  If you are maintaining and not losing significant amounts of weight, you are fine.  You do not need to eat processed cra*****n band friendly foods.  Eat good healthy food and take your vitamins and calcium.  When I had my 2nd dd (prior to LB surgery and I weighed about 230 at the time) I only gained 7 lbs the whole pregnancy.  They checked her growth on my ultrasounds at 20 and 30 weeks and she was right on target.  She was born at 39 weeks and weighed 8lbs 5 oz.  We have many woman who struggle with hyperemesis who go on to have healthy babies.  I would request an appointment with someone who has more experience with pg bariatric pts if possible...and if not go with your gut, I think from what you've posted you are doing fine (and you look GREAT...glowing even! :)  )

Hon you look great forget the crazy lady! How could a nutritionist even suggest the prepackaged crap!? That doesn't even make sense! You just eat healthy foods for you and bump and let her spin if she wants to. You look good and healthy in your pic and actually look thinner (minus the bump). You are doing just fine so don't let her stress you!

You look great!  I have never even heard of a nutritional check-in but then again even bottles have changed since my 4 yr old was born!  I know that my cousin had a unfill when prego but not completely.  She is crazy....might as well call every pregnant woman a bulemic...

Sounds as if she's not familar with the Bariatric world.

My advice, find a Bariatric Nutritionist.
Good Luck on your Journey !!
