I went to see shin yesterday.. first time since Sept I believe..he said i was down 22 pounds but I weighed in at 183.... my scale goes from 1777-183 depends on the time of day, if i have had a BM lol... but he as please with my progress. I told him that I am happy with my band at this time . .and he was happy with my loss. He says he wants me to lose just 15 more pounds!!!! 15 I thought!!! Thats not near my goal of 150... but oh well!..... then the shocking words of him saying how he wants me to think about untightening my band ...to thinnk about this hard..... because peope do survive eating 1,200 calories a day with being restricted........i dont know about this now... i wasnt NOT expecting to EVER get it undone as long as it took it get my sweet spot!.......I do see his point of view because I do find myself not having lunch with the girls at work , to avoiding social sitiations like that altogether... but that I can live with! ....I know myself all to well and I do belive I will go back to my wicked eating ways..... Have to wait and see!.

From what I've read here, some people get fluid out as they reach their goal, others don't. I would think it depends on if you can eat enough to maintain your weight once you reach your goal. If you can I would say don't mess with it. If you can't, have a little taken out. Congrats on being so close!

Personally, I did not have any fluid taken out of my band when I got to my goal.
I am about 16 months into maintenance.
I can eat plenty ---- if I stick with lean/solid protein and veggies, I can only eat about 800 - 1,000 calories a day -- but now in maintenance, I add in some liquid calories (wine, or a glass of chocolate milk) and I add in some carbs that I did not eat while I was focused on losing.
What I did not want to do, was to train my body to maintain my weight at 800 - 1000 calories a day, and trash my metabolism. I did that on Medifast years ago, and then gained weight when I was eating a small amount.
So, I keep up my exercise, eat about 1,400 - 1,600 calories a day -- and see my surgeon every year now.

I'm not anywhere near goal, but I know my MD wants me to get about 25 below goal (150 lbs) if possible so with the rebound I'll settle in nicely at 175 lbs. At that point he does plan to give me a little wiggle room. We're not talking about a full unfill, just a cc or two. he wants at that time to take off the training wheels and put to use all these great eating skills we should have picked up along the way. IDK??? I'm hoping he doesn't give me too much room. It would be like taking the dog off the chain. I've had one total unfill and the following 2 months did not go well!
