Band, thanks for where you got me, but it's time to say goodbye

Yes. I have but the sleeve is not covered under my insurance. My friend actually is having the sleeve done on Thursday and I wish I could also. Lap Band is the only option for me. I also know someone who had it with great success so to say the least am very nervous and afraid to make a decision. Thanks for your input.

So what?  APPEAL!

You get the surgery type you want!  Fight for it.  Go to the sleeve board and post this topic.  Just post that ins doesn't pay for a sleeve and people will share their appeal letters with you.

Remember, most ins co's are changing to a policy of one WLS per lifetime.  If the band fails, and it will eventually, you will most likely be left with self pay for a revision.

Appeal appeal appeal!  I will help you.  I'll post if it you want.  DO NOT settle for a surgery type you are not 100000000% comfortable with!

Many people have appealed and won, it just takes some effort on your part, and mine.

Can I ask you why you are switching? I hear a lot of people that are unhappy with their band. I am getting banded April 27th and am starting to have second thoughts. Please help.

It's good you're having 2nd thoughts! Have 3rd and 4th thoughs if necessary! I think a lot of ppl assume that if they are compliant that the band will work for them, but that's just not the case!  There is a failed band on OH, Facebook and on another foum filled with ppl that found that out the hard way.

Even the ASMBS no longer favors the band:

ASMBS LapBand Gets Low Marks

Please go to the VSG, RNY and DS forums and state the same thing you just mentioned. You will find plenty of FORMER bandsters on those forums that can tell you the difference between the band and that particular WLS from personal experience. If the band was that great...........all those ppl wouldn't want to put theirselves through the pain and expense of yet a 2nd WLS, now would they???

Think twice, cut once!

Good riddance, band and Hello, Sleeve!

I love my bypass and I'm glad my band is gone!

It is awesome eating again!

246 in Dec 2008 before banded 1/28/09 at 215 lbs, band crapped 9/09 at 170 lbs and struggled with it and regained to 203 revised to bypass on 8/1/11 and am very happy.
