Band, thanks for where you got me, but it's time to say goodbye

I have to report to the hospital tomorrow at 6:30am. I am excited, but also a bit scared. Leak risk goes up to 6% with a revision to sleeve after LapBand. So, your prayers are appreciated! There was a gentleman doing pre-op tests with me that is also revising from band to sleeve. My band gave me some parting words.....making sure I PB'd my dinner last night. Ha ha oh well.....thanks for all of your support and friendship over the years.
Maybe not 6%!! It's a different stat for each surgeon and as I recall your surgeon is pretty darn good so your risk for a leak should be even less.
Sometimes leaks are the fault of the surgeon, sometimes they are the fault of the patient. Sometimes they aren't anyones fault, they just happen.
My doc is nowhere near 6%! He's done hundreds of revisions and I believe one leak. Not even close to 6% and I'll bet your doc is the same!
Congrats on your new life!

Can I ask you why you are switching? I hear a lot of people that are unhappy with their band. I am getting banded April 27th and am starting to have second thoughts. Please help.If it is the band, you have time to change it to another surgery.
If it is weight loss surgery, you can back off.
I don't want to scare you by quoting statistics but do want to emphasize: Think twice, cut once.

Please help.No way I would get a band again. Way back when, when I was banded there were no US long term stats. There are now, for the life of me I don't know why anyone would want one.
The manufacturer considers you a success if you lose 40% of your excess weight. So if you have 100# to lose you are statistically expected to lose 40# and still have 60# to lose. You will still be obese. The band makers also make it clear this is not for life, this is for a few years. Stats show this to be true.
The band provides the slowest weight loss, the least weight loss, the highest regain, the most complications, and the shortest term weight loss.
Don't fall for the least invasive line of crap they give you. All the reoperations to fix slips, flipped ports, repositioning for various reasons.... and finally a revision is anything but least invasive.
Have you actually done your research on all FOUR procedure types? Sleeves are far safer long term than bands.
