3years ago today, I became willing to make a list of foods that trigger me to overheat compulsively.
I listed out cookies, candy, ice cream, cake, donuts and I decided that just for that day, I would not eat those.
Gratefully, I have been making that same decision each day since.
I know that some people can eat these foods moderately, and I used think that I could, but the tru is that I can't.
Once I start with those foods, I want more and more until I am eating those instead of real food.
I knew that my band would NOT stop or restrict those foods, so I had to find another way.
I used the 12 steps of OA through an on line program and am so grateful for the peace and health that I have gained through the program.

That's great you can do that Kath! I wish I had that much self control. Nothing is off limits for me, I just either eat it less often, or less of it when I do eat it. If I had to do without my favorite things I think I would feel deprived and wouldn't be able to stay on my diet.
One thing that I think does help me the most is that I try to keep the things that tempt me the most out of the house now. If I have a craving then I have to get out of the house n drive to the store to buy it. That is usually deterent enough. Also getting what I need and putting it back in the pantry (out of site, out of mind). If I see it on the counter I'm more likely to eat it more often than if I make sure to put it back in the pantry where I don't see it as much.
And smaller plates/bowls! That way I'm not looking at this big plate with all the empty space on it, lol.
