So who cares.  Truth is, I enjoy reading everyone posts.  I believe everyone is valid in the way they think--based on their experiences, good or bad.

But if we're to learn anything, we need to all be able to post stuff and not get offended if it doesn't live up to our own personal beliefs.  I fall into that category, but so does everyone, right?

Gerta, I sincerely apologize.  Many of your posts have been informative--there were one or two that I thought might have been exaggerated, but I was probably reading wayyyyy too much into them.

I would be interested in knowing more about your experience.  Truce??

You might be referring to me on that one? Anyway.........I don't exaggerate. I EMPHASIZE, lol. And yes I'm sure I sound like a broke record (I'm showing my age on that comment, lol) at times.....but I do post because I truely care.

And yes I completely agree. We need to be able to post things and not get offended. There will always be differing opinions, on forums and in real life.

There are some happy band stories out there. Most short term, but a few long term. I've very happy that yours is thus far a happy story and I sincerly hope that continues for u!

Not YOU, Maria!  I appreciate the fact that you state your opinion & you debate with passion.  Nothing wrong with that, and your words matter to me and others!  Plus you're funny as all get out!

Yep, same here.  Now with the insults and the "You disagree witih me because I hurt your feelings," all they really get from me is this internet eye roll.

But you know, it really is getting better.  Remember about 3 years ago?  OMG, it was horrible then.  If you dared to say anything about having band problems you were dog piled.  People today (most of them) are a lot more realistic and not so much into blaming the person but acknowledging the band has some issues.

One thing I have noticed, the people slinging the most insults are newbies.  Less than a year.  After that they just .. they are different.

I'm still waiting to see where I wrote that the band makers claim an 88% failure rate.  Some people don't back up their claims very well.

You're right.  My bad.  You said 88% complications, not failure rate,  BUT I don't think a monkey could place a band

Now if you don't mind, I'm going to stick my fingers in my ears & sing loudly--teeheeehee

Look, I'm not even trying to keep this up with this back and forth.  I think we all have opinions based on our own individual experiences.  I'm not far enough along in this process to have all the answers, and I apologize if that's how I came across.

Hope you have a good weekend--

A smart monkey could! ;o)

Look, my point that I failed to explain is that there are band mills and real surgeons.  The band mills do only bands because it IS the easiest surgery to do.  They tell people things that simply are not true or accurate.  They exaggerate the stats and they minimize the long term risk.  I think that is wrong.  Yes, I realize your sugeon is not a band mill and I'm not referring to him.  I'm referring to surgeons in general.

I always like to suggest that people go to surgeons who do ALL the various procedures because the doctor has more of a vested interest in the patient instead of his bank account.

Lap bands provide doctors with low risk SURGERY (not referring to long term), lots of revisions to fix slips, ports, etc., and they are high income.  I can't respect a band mill doctor so I will always insist that IMHO a smart monkey could place a band.

Would you be happier if you didn't have to see anything I have to say? Believe it or not, I do understand that seeing posts about how horrible the band is can scare a newbie and that's not my intention. I don't usually block anyone, but if it would make your experience on OH better, I am willing to "disappear" for you. I know that others don't like to block, so I'm offering to remove myself from your presence, if that would make you feel better.

And I'm NOT being snarky, I promise.
