This is not a happy story to tell.

Sadly, this sounds like my current situation.  I had bronchitis the end of 2012 (Thanksgiving through the after the first of the year).  Nothing would help, antibiotics and a second trip to the doctor - a shot of antibiotics...still nothing better.  Would wake up coughing with reflux and then coughing during the day to where I would gag and throw up.

Band hasn't been right since then...had an upper GI and an appointment with band doc. a week and a half ago and was told that I had slipped.  Bronchitis could have caused the slip OR the slip could have caused the bronchitis.

I go back in a week and a half for another upper GI to see if the band goes back into place or to determine what the next step is.

I don't understand why no one realizes that is call,
 Aspiration pneumonia
Look it up... if you get reflux or gastritis from your band you can very easily get it.
Waking up coughing is a real good sign of reflux, and in turn can cause the aspiration pneumonia.
I hope both of you are doing better now.

Herman,

Yes, thats what the doctor in the hospital called it:   Aspiration pneumonia.

Also I didnt say it in my post but I would wake up every nite coughing and slept in my recliner for about a month.  Sleeping kind of upright in recliner would control most coughing.

Thanks  for the right medical term...
