What a Failure

This is my anniversary date of 4 years of having the lap bad. It has been a complete failure. I had the saline in for 2 years, having readjustments, and then couldn't take it anymore and had the saline removed. That is 2 years ago. Initially I lost 45 lbs, but that all came back. I just couldn't eat that way. I choked on almost everything. It was embarrassing when out in a restaurant always excusing myself to go up-chuck. I am debating whether to have the saline put back in. I hate that feeling of food getting caught. I am running out of time, since I am now 76 years old, and a good 60 lbs overweight. Any suggestions? oh and bye the way, I have tried other means since then, you know them all.

Hugs! There are MANY of us that know exactly how you feel! :-( No restriction/green zone actually if a major problem for so many bandsters. It's just either too tight, or too loose. NO happy medium.

Are you able to revise? Most bandster seem to go with VSG. I will try to do that as well as soon as I get insurance.

Btw............you look amazing. I would never guess that was you age.

There is a link below for the failed band group on FB, please join.

Sorry your band gives you a fit. :(  Not fun.  If you decide to give it another go and would like some support, drop me a note :) would be happy to be in your corner. :)

I have a question. Can the saline be put back in after being empty for 2 years?

Yes it can be put back in. They wouldn't put in what was in it before the removal all at once though. You would just do it like at the beginning with gradual fills.

Hi McKenna I remember you from years ago, we both had poopy bands and I see we still do! I wish I had words of wisdom for you but I'm still in the same boat too. About the only real help would be a revision. And dang lady there is no way you are 76 yrs old!!!!! I should look that good now much less at 76.

That pic is about 10 years old. I need to put another one on there So what happened to your band? I am getting too old to think about another surgery. So far I am leaving this band in because it isn't giving me any trouble so far. Knock on wood heh?

Ten years old or not I think you're gorgeous! My band kept tightening for no reason at all, like over a year after the last fill so I had 1 cc taken out. Then awhile later it was tight again so took another 1 cc out. Well before long it was tight AGAIN so I said screw it, it's not working anyway so I had it completely emptied. I have to pay $225 for fills and unfills, that's just too much to deal with being retired and on a limited income. I've done pretty well since I had it emptied, gained a bit at first indulging in some foods I couldn't eat before. I had a 5 lb limit set on myself so once I hit that it was back to journaling food again and was holding my own. Then I got a surprise blessing in that a med my pulmonary doc put me on had loss of appetite as a side effect and I've lost 25 lbs now in the last couple of months. I found I was able to eat healthier after I got emptied cause I could eat meat and veggies again. I wish we all could just get these blasted things out without having such a hassle. Got no answers for ya but at least know you aren't alone on this sinking ship!
