Besides being in quite some pain I'm happy to report everything went smoothly..  Midnight after surgery I woke up with 103.5 fever and was told I needed to stay an extra day.  They ran a bunch of tests on me only to find out it was just a reaction to the anesthesia.  I came home yesterday and finally slept in my own bed.. When I left the hospital I was instructed that I could go on the full liquid diet.. So yesterday I had a fudgesicle and pudding..  Now today I've had a little of a protein shake and a few tiny spoonfuls of some creamy soup and when I stop eating it I feel nauseous then it goes aways, then I feel it again and it goes away.. Is this normal till my body gets used to eating again after being on a liquid diet?

Congratulations!

Even though you are on liquids, you still have to do it slow! It could still be the anesthesia which will stay in your system for several days.

Drink as much as you can and still try to get you 64 ounces in while on liquids and lots of protein drink too to get started. That will help keep your energy up too.

pudding might be a bit to thick to start with...

I pureed chunky soups then watered them down till they were pretty thin cause I'm not much for sweet flavors. It was really filling!

You are making the biggest mistake of your life by having the band.

Wow.  That's really not very nice.  I think that's up to her to decide.

Paula wasn't saying that to be mean! Her heart is in the right place. She just knows that most bands will not work out long term.

Your timing is horrible.  We talk to people before surgery, not after about these issues.  What is she supposed to do, go back today and have it removed because you said so?

Com'on, that's not fair.

thanks for posting that, Wasa.  That is the difference some people with failed bands don't seem to understand.    I remember you making the same kind of post to Maria in the past but I have to say she has toned it down quite a bit, focussing more on informing the pre ops instead. (love ya Maria).

5.0 cc in a 10cc lapband  (four  fills) 1 unfill of .5cc  on 5/24/2011.
.5 fill  March 2012. unfill of .25cc May 2012.  Unfill of .5cc June 2014.

Still with my lapband with no plans for revision. Band working well since

last small unfill.

My feelings are that the pre ops are my target.  I'll type my fingers off, run my mouth non stop.  I will tell them the good, bad, and fugly.  In my heart there isn't much good but lots of the others.  You target people doing their research, sure as hell not someone a few days post op.  What is the value?  It's just plain wrong.

I saw someone posting about this thread on another board and I thought noooooooo, they misunderstood!  Seriously, what's the value?  So I came here to see for myself.

I know there are people here who would prefer previously banded people not post here at all.  I even remember one poster... doctor Vicki or something like that, I forget her name.  She actually wrote that we should only tell the good parts of banding on this board and if there are studies, stats, or personal experiences with the band that doesn't put it in a good light we should keep it on the sleeve board.

While THAT is never going to happen I'm not going to down a newbie post op for getting a band.
