Are there any tools ie: plate, silverware,or kitchen gadgets that help with the process of transitioning to new habits ?

I went to the local grocery store and bought toddler plates, they work great!

Baby spoons and salad plates

I also bought some of the cheap plastic containers in the 1/2 cup size
If I eat a snack, I portion it out into one of those

I use small plates and bowls. Also make sure you get a few Blender Bottles and a good electirc blender as well!

Oster makes a really nice blender that you mix in the cup you drink out of and it holds 20 ounces. No washing other pieces!

Target carries it.

A food scale, measuring cups and spoons. I use a plastic infant spoon to eat soft things like pudding because it helps me to eat smaller bites. I always use a salad plate and the biggest fork I use is a salad fork. For some a kitchen timer helps to give a time frame in which to eat. What I mean is to give yourself a goal to be eating and finish something no sooner than x minutes, etc.

The other suggestions are good, too. You will find more of your own.

I love my Ninja blender. You can get one at Sam's club for about 50.00. It makes your shakes thick like ice cream. It chops and blends and it makes snow cone ice! Invest in this it is awesome!
