What to do?

I'm on post op day 16.  My doc said that I could start eating chicken and things like that.  My worry is now that I'm eating "normal" stuff I'll start to gain the weight back.  Sure enough after my first day of eating real food I gained 2 lbs. I didn't pig out or eat junk food.   I'm not sure what to do.  I know I have to start eating, but I'm so worried I won't be able to lose.  Has anyone else gone through this?

I am on week 7. You will lose if you eat your cup of food For three meals and one small snack. Also eat slow as if you band was filled to get used to how you are supposed to eat. And, start exercising! Nothing overly strenuous until you are six weeks post op, but you can walk, bike ride, et****pt losing and am having a little slow down this week, but doubled my workout so I am probably gaining some muscle!

You will lose inches too during your post op. I lost almost 2 inches around my neck!

Keep it up!

Don't worry, you will begin losing again. Our bodies do the down one up two down 3 all the time. It is totally normal to have a small gain at each new phase. Just remember that the band is designed to work while eating solid food. At this point out from surgery you are still healing so don't pu**** but eventually you will transfer to dense protein and continue losing. Don't rush things and don't be afraid of stalls in losing. We all do it.

Good luck
Sue

I think its ridiculous that your surgeon is allowing you to eat something like CHICKEN on post-op day 16.  I realize surgeons differ, but you should be on all liquids for at least two weeks and then graduate to semi-soft foods for the next several weeks.  Chicken--poultry in general-- is a rather tough and dry protein.  Be careful & good luck.

I agree with the previous post- be careful with chicken, stick rather to mushy food and heal. You had a surgery after all! Take it easy and please- do not worry about the weight loss at this stage.
Roll on weight loss!

I'm 4 wks post op and am just now switching to normal foods but still try to have more mushy foods than firm. i suggest you focus on protein food and be really careful with sugars and carbs. Also, I would stay away from chicken (especially white meat) - had a really bad stuck episode last week.
