Thanks for your reply.  I feel your dilemma.  I haven't found much literature out there regarding outcomes on rebanding and long term issues.  My problem was I could never find that sweet spot and I wonder if the reflux is due to age, obesity am at 180 now, lowest I got was 150 from 267.  I too wonder if I won't develop problems even if I get rebanded.

I do know the hernia must be fixed w/ surgery.  So should I keep the band in and risk having to take it out later or just have them take it out and be done with it?

Hard decisions and I look forward to hearing updates from you.

THAT is exactly where I am stuck right now with this decision. I am worried that I will have this repaired, and then develop another problem where I will have to have the band taken out at a later date. In that case I almost want to just have it taken out. I really am so lost as to what the right thing to do is.

Karin... just thought I would check in and see how you are doing?

I am still doing well on my recommitment to my band and continue to lose weight. My weight plateaued the last 2 weeks... but I also loosened my diet a little. Oops.

I just found out that my insurance approved my hiatal hernia surgery. Yay! AND they are also going to cover the band re-positioning portion of the surgery. Double YAY! I am VERY excited that it is going to be covered. Shocked actually.

So I quickly scheduled for surgery in 2 weeks. I will let you know how it goes!
