I think Carnie made a good safe decision.....at least she has the money to pick a great surgeon and keep her band adjusted properly and safely.....at least the lap band keeps on working forever it's not a tool that works GREAT only for 2-3 years and STOP...I can attest to that ...mind is still kicking at almost 7 years.....

I really hope it works out for her.  She seems like such a nice lady.  I enjoyed her reality show she used to have. I wonder what happened to it?  I liked it!  On her show, she admitted to having addiction issues  (i.e., food, alcohol, shopping).   I hope she has gotten the help she needs to deal with those issues, especially the eating addiction so she will not sabotage her band, like she did her Gastric Bypass.

Well wait, that's not quite fair.  I can't necessarily say that she sabotaged her gastric bypass.  She did lose alot with her bypass, but then had a couple of babies.  So the weight creeped back up on her like it does with so many of us gastric bypass patients.  I do hope she works her band though!  She deserves to be happy and healthy.

Go Carnie!

I second that. I am 10 years out and I still love my tool. Mona

I'm glad she is still working at it.  I would do the same thing If I had the bypass and then gained weight.  After having a complete unfill and gaining 25 pounds I felt horrible and depressed.  I can only imagine how it would feel after having bypass.

Hopefully she won't have problems with the band.  I think it's great she talks about it and lets people know that life after surgery is NOT easy!!

Wow, I didn't know she had lap-band. It sounds like she's in a good place and will be able to use the band to take off the extra weight.

I didn't know either. But it got me wondering how they put the band on people who've had RNY? Do their stomach pouch's actually stretch out so much that a band can fit? I guess so. Hummm???

This is why I would never ever get a revision surgery because NONE WORK long term, my new lap band surgeon says that he get many calls from people that had the bypass AND THE SLEEVE wanting to know if they can get a lap band put on their stretched stomach after 3-4 years out. I don't think Sleeve patients can get a lap band over their stomach since most of it is removed, but bypass folks can get a band around their stapled stomach since it has not been removed, once you remove the stomach there is nothing you can do.

He mentioned that is one of the many reasons he only does lap bands, it does not make sense to get your insides rearranged or stomachs removed for it to only work temporarily.....but I can see why some people may want the bypass since they may need to lose weight quickly for health reasons though.

I've heard of several people getting lap band after bypass surgery I guess because they do stretch out the pouch.  Apparently there is no magic bullet!
