Last night I ate a piece of chicken breast and apparently it was too dry. Even though I thought i chewed enough, boy was I wrong! The pain i felt was followed by more pain!! I hope I never have to feel that again. I now understand what the slimming is! It seems to be very hard to chew to oblivion and put the fork down. I have now learned my lesson. My days of eating quickly until I feel full are gone! In order to get rid of the pain, I jumped up and down, jogged around the house and finally the pain left...its safe to say I don't want to see another piece of chicken until I forget the pain I felt last night.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Sorry that you had to experience that. Next timr try thighs. You can get a skinnless and boneless kinf. Dark meat is moister. I was a white meat eater and never thought i would like dark but its actually good.
Good Luck and feel better.

I haven't been stuck yet, but I try to eat dark. Meat when possible too. Just depends how the white meat is cooked!

I also feel that I still eat to fast and will fall to this one time. I keep trying to slow down, but I definitely chew to mush!

I feel your pain.. when I eat too fast I always have an issue.
I usually walk and pace a short while and it goes away. You think I would learn...

My biggest downfall is going out to eat. It is hard to remember to eat slow when everyone around me is eating fast. But you pay a high price if you forget. Which I did this weekend and ended up on liquids all weekend because one bite of shrimp was not chewed well.Ow!

Thank you guys. That is great advice! I always try to use the crock pot, use dark meat or use extra thin breasts when making chicken. This time I was at my in laws house and they served chicken breast. It was baked and it may have been a little overcooked. My problem is no one aside from my husband and mother know about me having this surgery. So I figured as long as i tried to chew thoroughly I should be okay. Wrong! I also have the problem of eating too fast. I think after this episode I have a constant reminder to slow it down!

I remember my first stuck episode well. It was scarey and I was alone. I was considering calling an ambulance. I slimmed and tried so hard not to vomit but when I did, the pain went away.
CHEW CHEW CHEW and when you think you have chewed enough, CHEW MORE. If you don't think you can chew it enough, SPIT IT OUT. I try to sit reclined if I am feeling stuck and sometimes it works.

I hear you!!  After my last fill I feel like EVERYTHING is getting stuck!  I have had my band for almost  2 years and this last fill did me in!  I am not sure if I just need to get used to it or if I need to have some taken out.  I can still drink and swallow fine, but even soup has become a challenge.  I try to chew chew chew, but I am still having a very tough time.  And God forbid I try to even take a sip of something while eating...everything will come right back up!!   Any advice?  When is it considered TOO FULL??  I am getting frustrated, it takes me hours to eat, I feel like I am always trying to eat!!  Any tips on good meal items that are a little easier to eat?

Call your surgeon and get in for a small unfill. Leaving your band too tight can cause complications. Often just a small unfill does the trick. I actually had to have half my first fill taken out and only had half of that put back in later on. At nearly 2 years out is still have less than 2.5cc of fluid in mine.

Chicken breasts are notorious for stuck episodes. In another situation like that try having some type of sauce, gravy, dressing etc. to dip tiny bites in. Then wait between bites until you are sure that one goes down. If I am at someone elses home or in a restaraunt I break my hard and fast rule and take sips of water when I am eating. Starvation later on is better than stuck any day. I still use light ranch dressing to help me out.
