A heating pad can do wonders! Ask the nurses in the hospital if they can get you one, and have one for when you are home. But honestly the best way to get it moving and out is to be up and walking, even if it's just a little bit at a time.

Agree with Kathy.

I even just walked around the house every hour when I got home and it really helped. No gas pain after I left the hospital, that only lasted the first day. I was bloated for a couple weeks. The walking helped with that too.

You will do fine! Congratulations! You will be so excited when it is over.

Here's a trick a nurse told me one time when I had horrid gas while in the hospital. She said lay on your side, pull your knees to your chest (or as close as you can), hold for 10-20 seconds. then relax for awhile. After a few min. do it again and again till you move some gas. It seemed to work pretty good. Having arthritis myself I know how painful it can be sometimes, then again you'll be on pain meds so you may be able to walk. Good luck to you.
