Gastric bypass after lap band?
Hello, I'm new to this forum. I to had the lap band surgery. I had it in May of 2010. The results have not been to good, I've only lost 25 lbs and now I'm starting to gain it back. I try to modify my diet but it isn't helping. Can't find a good place for my band adjustments. It is either too loose or too tight. I am in the process of getting mine revised to gastric. To do this you have to be at least 2 years out and you still have to go through pre-surgery tests and classes plus whatever your insurance requires. Don't be afraid to talk to your Surgeon he /she have heard it before and will not judge you, they just want to help. I was approved by my insurance co for the revision which was to happen on Sept. 16th but my insurance co was changed and now I have to re-apply to my new insurance co. Hopefully they will approve it! P.S I had to have an upper GI, blood work, see the nutritionist and the physiologist all over again before she would send in the letter of necessity. But thankfully I don't have to go through it again and they just sent in the letter to my new insurance company. DON"T be ashamed to talk to your Dr about a revision. I have been reading that more and more banders are revising to Gastric.Good luck and keep in touch!! Hope this helps.
