question about revision surgery

Hi there! I am considering revising to my sleeve - even if insurance won't pay. I think I have hit rock bottom with my band.

I was banded in October 2010. The most I lost was 40 lbs. RIght now I am at about 20.

My question is this: when you revise, do you have to go through the same pre-surgery screening process we did when we first had surgery? I'm willing to wait, but not looking forward to another surgery, and would prefer to get it over with!

Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated!

I didnt.  I was approved immediately.  It took awhile to get the surgery date because my surgeon is the most sought after in the cou try, especially by celebrities but as far as insurance approval it was no big deal.

Yes, but it was much fewer than the 1st pre op (band), mostly lab work.  I revised to bypass 7 months ago. and I am very happy!

246 in Dec 2008 before banded 1/28/09 at 215 lbs, band crapped 9/09 at 170 lbs and struggled with it and regained to 203 revised to bypass on 8/1/11 and am very happy.

I am revising to the sleeve and will have to get some blood tests, an EKG and a chest xray....far fewer tests than my original LapBand surgery!!

I think it depends entirely on the insurance requirements and your surgeons requirements so you'll have to check with them, some do some don't. Good luck tho, hope it goes quickly for you!
